You can ship Steve and Natasha platonically or romantically, but at the end of the day, Steve would NEVER have left if Natasha had survived
God there’s something so refreshing about seeing Steve meet Natasha after seeing the ways everyone else has been treating him
Like everyone at shield has clearly been ignoring him or just allowing him to completely isolate himself (not sure which is worse considering this guy literally just lost everyone and everything he’s ever known, loved, or fought for) bc Fury doesn’t seem to be fully taking him seriously, Coulson (and I’m sure others he’s met up to this point) is such a big fanboy he can barely keep his composure around him
And then there’s Natasha who meets him and immediately starts teasing him (by poking fun at Coulson’s excitement nonetheless) and that’s when we get our first (of very few) genuine Steve smiles in this movie
After being treated like a comic book character come to life (either not taken seriously or fawned over), she’s probably the first person since he came out of the ice to treat him like a person and that is SO important
ROMANOGERS & BUCKLENA
"This is gonna work, Steve." Natasha Romanoff, Avengers: Endgame (2019). "It's bad, Bucky." Yelena Belova, Thunderbolts* (2025).
Totally inspired by calisverse.
Bucky Barnes and Yelena Belova gifs. (11/∞)
Capwidow in every universe
Steve and Natasha are the same age.
Everyone makes jokes about the fact that, by the time Steve is revived in 2011, he's 93 years old. Heck, by the time of Winter Soldier even Steve jokes "I'm 95, I'm not dead"
But here's the thing: Steve was born in 1918 and hit the ice in 1945. That makes him 27 years old, give or take.
Natasha was born in 1984 - Zola tells us this when he identifies her with her actual name at the hidden Hydra facility in Winter Soldier. This means that Natasha was 27 in 2011. The year that Steve was revived.
When they're foiling Hydra in Winter Soldier They're both 29-30 years old.
That is wild to me. (And, coincidentally the same age as their actors, which is neat too)
Which might explain why their chemistry is so off the charts. They're too very special 30 year olds who are maybe stumbling on the one person in the world who is all the things we hope for in our partners.
I love it.
