God itâs so funny how bad Leslie and Ben are at keeping their relationship a secret (and just not being a couple in general)- like they were only secretly dating for like three episodes and in that time:
-They started making out in broad daylight *at work* while they were talking about how to be better at hiding their relationship
-He leaned in to kiss her in the middle of a conversation about being more subtle
-The second theyâre confronted about their relationship by Ron they both start babbling incoherently and canât even come up with a reasonable way to deny it
-While she was trying to break up with him he got her an L-shaped eclair and she loved it sm she cried and they spent the night together instead
-While theyâre broken up her brain basically short circuits at the mere thought of him being with someone else and he canât even be around her anymore bc neither of them can figure out how to not be in love with each other
One of the most satisfying parts of reaching the second half of tmi is whenever Jace refers to his sister and you realize heâs talking about Isabelle
Rereading cob and itâs so funny that clary and jace both spend most of this book watching each othersâ interactions with simon and alec and thinking âhow tf do you not realize your best friend is in love with you??â
Nysmnyd au where Jack and Lula never broke up so when he gets his tarot card they just assume itâs meant for both of them and we get all five horsemen for the whole movie
Love watching the development of Leslie and Benâs working relationship bc it goes from
-Two equally stubborn government employees on opposite sides of the budget crisis who wonât stop complaining about each other to everyone they know
-Co-heads of the harvest festival who become an unstoppable team the second theyâre finally on the same team (theyâre partners in crime with their own secret handshake that makes everyone around them gag but they both love it sm that it doesnât matter)
-A secret couple who technically canât be together bc of the rules that govern the jobs they both love so much (except theyâre starting to love each other more and every time they try to talk about being more subtle they end up making out at work)
-Married couple who get to work together again and frequently annoy their coworkers with how disgustingly in love they can be (we see Ron get mad at them and Donna tell them to stop it and neither reaction seems to dissuade them in the slightest so we can only assume that this is a frequent occurrence)
If only weâd gotten to see more glimpses of Governor Knope and Congressman Wyatt being disgustingly in love at the federal level
Itâs really funny to me that they went from atlas and merritt hitting on henley in the first movie to having merritt turn around and use atlas as his new target in the second one while lula hits on jack lmao
The concept of merritt getting into the habit of calling atlas âbuffyâ when heâs getting on his nerves post-nysm2 and eventually having to explain the reference to henley and the others when jack and lula lose it laughing the first time he does it post-reunion
Ok genuinely whatâs the plan to get a fourth season of party down bc I just rewatched s3 and that henry x casey reunion scene was just *way* too buzzy for that to be the end of it
Like Iâm gonna need more of them *now*
I love all of the tid couples sm like wdym charlotte and henry were married for literal years before either of them found out they werenât in a marriage of convenience and they had both actually been in love with each other this whole time
Looking forward to seeing where Serena and Matt are at next week after the classic âfirst kiss at the end of the episode and then it fades to blackâ sitcom cliffhanger
Aka I canât wait to see where theyâre at next time we see them on a scale from Jim and Pam (havenât seen each other in months, everythingâs awkward and theyâre not really in contact anymore) to Leslie and Ben (hooked up immediately after said kiss and are now fully in a committed relationship) lmao
I canât believe itâs been a whole year since sotr came out and my unemployed ass sat down and read the whole thing cover to cover in one sitting and SOBBED when I saw the first mention of Katniss and Peeta in the epilogue (I missed them so bad)
One of the reasons that I think Ben and Leslie are so special to me is that the show had a such a strong, ambitious female character like Leslie at the helm and decided to give her an equally strong, ambitious love interest in Ben. In a lot of ways I think Ben is sort of a revolutionary kind of love interest for a character like Leslie and I adore them together
Like thereâs a version of a show like this where Leslie ends up alone (in the typical âstrong independent women doesnât need a manâ fashion) bc she canât find a partner that wonât slow her down or inhibit her individualism. Thereâs also a version where she ends up with a Dave type guy: someone kind and sweet but rather simple compared to her, who loves her and supports her dreams but never fully understand them, who can cheer her on from the sidelines but couldnât ever really stand beside her, who admires her big ambitions but has none of his own
But parks didnât do that. They knew they didnât need to make Leslie permanently single in order for her to retain her power and individualism and they didnât have her end up with some kind of simpleton in order to give her a husband who wasnât intimidated by her ambition or success. They did something that shouldnât be as rare or feel as revolutionary as it kind of is: in Ben they gave her a true partner, an equal
Ben is as strong willed and ambitious as she is. He loves Leslie as fiercely as she loves him, but they also *understand* each other just as well. He supports her and her goals as her bf/husband, but heâs also there beside her as her partner as she works for them and she does the same for him
In these two, parks gave us a couple who love each other fiercely, who come together to become even stronger, more sure versions of themselves, grounded by the partnership they build together. Neither one of them gives up their strength or individual ambitions or their complexity as a character when theyâre together. In fact, theyâre more powerful and ambitious as a team than they were apart, constantly encouraging each other and pushing the other towards the things they want
Ben and Leslie are a couple, but even before that, theyâre a *team* and I just adore them for it
If I had a nickel for every time lizzy caplan made a surprise return to a series when it finally came back for a third installment after like a decade long break - Iâd have two nickels but itâs weird that it happened twice
Rereading tid for the first time in a bit and Iâm still never getting over Gideon accidentally proposing to Sophie in front of the whole institute lmao
tbh nysm would be great as a tv show
mini heists or magic shows every few episodes
character interactions! fun magic!
one episode where Merritt and Jack get a new bunk bed from IKEA and the entire episode is them struggling to put it together
Dylan and Thaddeus do a small heist together but accidentally get seen at the end by like a bachlorette party and have to call Merritt to hypnotize them to forget about it and heâs like âyall are hardcore Eye magicians you canât fix this yourself?â and Dylan goes âneither of us are mentalists, what do you want us to do, kill them?â
Danny is getting increasingly paranoid because everyone is acting slightly Off and itâs because theyâre planning his surprise birthday party
Through a series of events, after staunchly refusing to do so the whole episode, Lula is forced to recreate her âhat out of a rabbitâ trick
Henley shows up like âIâm gonna jump in a crocodile enclosure for a thing, can you watch my kid for a bit?â And Babysitting ensues
another episode with Henley (perhaps multiple) where she participates in the latest heist/magic show but always makes it back to her house before the cops bust her like âwhatâs happening officer Iâve been home all day innocent blinkâ ala Antman and the Wasp. Other times sheâs the tech person who hacks into stuff and monitors cameras
Dylanâs FBI ex-coworkers/boss are reoccurring antagonists. At one point after setting up a sting all episode, they fail to catch the Horsemen. What went wrong? The Horsemen used pigeons to communicate and avoid the trap
Thaddeus and/or one of the other Eye magicians shows up occasionally to be weird and cryptic and either cause problems or give vague, eventually useful advice (or both)
basically any era would work
pre nysm1 awkward get-to-know-you bonding
post nysm1 hjinks with Dylan maintaining his cover and the Horsemen screwing around
post nysm2 everything
even post nysm3
the possibilities are endless
JANCY + their shared separated section of the sofa
they are a set. do not separate.
