Cleon on the Run Headcanons

I just read an absolutely fantastic fanfiction where Claire and Leon ended up on the run from the US Government, so I started thinking about them on the run. Please feel free to use my headcanons. If you post them, please @ me because I'd love to read them.

1: They one hundred percent will use matching last names when checking into hotels/motels. They like the idea of making people guess whether they’re related or married. They don’t tell anyone and there’s no PDA in front of the people working there. Claire started it as a funny little jab at the fact that one of the ladies asked if they were related when they asked for a room with two beds in it. 

2: Leon tries to get them a place with a kitchen so they aren’t living on fast food 24/7. It usually doesn’t end up turning out right, so Claire relentlessly teases him for it. 

3: Despite hating when anyone else drives him places, he lets Claire drive whenever she wants to. He feels safe enough with her that he’ll take something so he can sleep while they’re driving during times where the government’s too close on their heels for them to find somewhere to stop for the night. 

4: They live on Red Bulls and snuggles, you can’t convince me otherwise. Sure, saving the world is great and all, but there’s no way that they can run solely on that. Kisses are good too, they really boost morale. I’m such a dork for that statement, but whatever. 

5: You know when things are making you feel absolutely crazy? That’s what happens to Claire anytime that she sees Leon doing normal things like changing a tire. They’re so used to only seeing each other in times where the world is ending, that she forgets that they have normal lives at times. Leon, on the other hand, has dreamed of being with Claire for normal things, so he’s never surprised. Definitely surprised when she wakes up and makes food for them the times that they have access to a kitchen, but that’s because he’s used to making his own food. 

6: Sherry, Chris, and Jill keep up with them as best as they can. Claire likes to send him selfies with the wildest captions as updates sometimes. (Ex. Leon changing the tire of the car that they’re driving because they got a flat from driving over a rock. “Car chases are wild. Can't wait to get back to them.")  7: When they finally manage to get cleared, the first thing they do is call Chris and Jill. Claire excitedly tells them that her and Leon’s vacation is over and that they’re coming back now. Leon bitches about her calling it a vacation since it was not a vacation.

Desperately want an intense car chase scene set in gridlock traffic. Contrived reason why they can't get out of their cars. Intense music. Intense dialogue but it's all like "If this Ford doesn't let me merge in front of him, they're going to get through the light and be half a block away before we can move again!" And "Merge left! Merge left, dammit! They're doing the exit lane/immediate on-ramp trick!!!"

Spy (2015) 8/10

The CIA's top analyst (Melissa McCarthy) gets a crack at a case when her partner (Jude Law) dies in the field. It's up to her to find a stolen nuclear bomb that is at risk of being sold into the wrong hands.

Melissa McCarthy shines as Susan Cooper. She's smart, she's witty, and she has determination to make things right. She's also 40, and joined the CIA after quitting her teaching job. But despite the odds, she fights hard for what's right.

The movie stars an ensemble cast, including Miranda Hart, who plays Susan's best friend and colleague, Nancy B. Artingsall, Rose Byrne as Rayna Boyanov, the daughter of Tihomir Boyanov (the only other person who knows where the bomb is hidden), Jude Law as debonair agent Bradley Fine, and Jason Statham as Rick Ford, a super macho agent who clashes with Susan.

The plot is easy to follow, and the movie takes place in Rome, Paris, and Budapest, following Susan Cooper's mission. The jokes are witty, mostly delivered by McCarthy and Statham. (Statham's character has two particular monologues about what he's done on missions, and it's hilarious).

There's not really any dull moments in this movie, because you're engaged in the fact that Susan has to track down Rayna to get to the bomb. And she struggles a few times, but she manages. And Rose Byrne is hilarious as Rayna, playing a stuck up, but ruthless person. She is dedicated to what her father left her.

There's hand to hand fight scenes, a car chase, and shootouts, so if you like any of those in an action movie, this has all three.

I did recently rewatch this movie after not seeing it for a few years, so it did feel long to me, but maybe that's because it's been a while. I'm sure if you see this movie over and over, it'll feel short.

But this is a good action comedy if you don't want to think too much!

Number 80: “Is your seat belt on?”

As a Kryptonian Kon is rather invulnerable to a lot of things. There's very little that can actually harm him and do any sort of damage to his body, with this in mind Kon can be overly confident, not think things through, be reckless on missions and not give a shit about his wellbeing. It can be a problem and he’s aware of that but he’s gotten by so far.

However, right now, Kon is absolutely fearing for his life.

His body gets jolted and he involuntarily lets out a yelp, he grips tightly onto the grab handle with one hand and clutches onto the seat with the other. With his heart pounding inside his chest he stares out of the windshield as streets, buildings and people all zoom by in a blur. Another yell escapes from him when his body is suddenly thrown to one side when the car makes a sharp turn around a corner.

Once he’s righted himself Kon looks over his shoulder and out of the rear windshield, much to his chagrin their pursuers are still on their tail following closely behind. It seems that Tim’s excellent driving skills aren’t getting them anywhere.

Kon turns back around and faces the front, he glances to the side at Tim who is in the driver’s seat fully focused on navigating them through the tight streets around them. He’s about to speak up when he’s once again thrown to the side when Tim makes another sharp turn around a corner, the car skids and crashes into some street stalls that were set up before speeding off again. In the distance Kon could hear some terrified screams being let out.

“Fucking hell Tim, be careful!” Kon exclaims seriously hoping no one gets injured from their crazy car chase.

Tim spares a second to send Kon a harsh glare before focusing on driving again. “Seriously Kon? We’re being pursued by people who want to kill us and you’re concerned about street stalls? Priorities Kon!”

“Sorry for caring! Can’t you lose them or something? They’re gaining on us.”

“What do you think I’ve been trying to do this entire time!”

Kon huffs but doesn’t respond, he simply holds on tighter and hopes for the best in this outcome.

He and Tim were on a mission in an urban area in India, they were originally sent to do some recon on an illegal factory producing drugs and weapons. Somewhere along the way the mission went sideways and they were caught snooping around, to begin with they tried to fight their way out without being caught, but even with their combined efforts and skill sets they were out matched.

Knowing they needed a way to escape unless they wanted to be captured, Tim spotted an off-road jeep parked nearby and yelled at Kon to get to it. Kon had wanted to protest at first but upon seeing more men join the fight he quickly changed his mind and headed for the car with Tim right behind him. While Kon fought the men who closed in on them Tim jumped into the driver’s seat, hotwired the car and started it up, once he was ready Kon climbed into the car and Tim wasted no time in getting them out of there.

Now they’re in a middle of a chase, driving through narrow streets of a local town causing chaos.

After several more minutes of manic driving Kon yells at Tim. “What’s the plan here Tim? We need to do something!”

“I don’t know!” Tim screams back, he yanks the wheel to the side causing the car to jerk around a corner once more, “I don’t know how much longer we can keep driving and avoiding them.”

When Kon goes to respond to Tim he turns to look at his partner but freezes upon doing so. Despite what’s going on, Kon can still read Tim like a book, he knows his tell tales and right now Tim has a look on his face which says he’s just thought of a plan. Kon has no idea if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Seconds later Tim glances at him, his eyes darting between the streets he’s narrowly navigating through and Kon sat next to him. “I have an idea.”

“Nothing good comes from those four words.” Kon comments. He grits his teeth as Tim drives over something that causes the car to violently rock sideways.

“Just trust me.” Tim says confidently. “Is your seat belt on?”

Kon gawks at him, wondering if he heard correctly. “Are you seriously asking me that right now?”

Tim shrugs as if it’s nothing. “What? Safety first. I have a feeling our ride is about to get a whole lot bumpier.”

Kon feels his stomach drop at the thought, as if this ride isn’t bad enough already, what the hell is Tim planning that’s going to make it even worse? Well he figures he’s going to be finding out soon enough. Gripping his anchor points tighter Kon braces himself for the impact that’s about to come and prays to God that they’ll both make it out of this alive.

A lot of chatter today about The Sound of Music but for me, as someone who didn’t see that musical until well into my teenage years (no musical lovers in this family), my first memory of Christopher Plummer is as corrupt Rev. Jonathan Whirley in 1987′s underappreciated Dragnet.

He was a great actor and I saw him in so many things after this, but I always came back to his stellar comedic timing.
