These baked apple donuts are a delightful treat with the perfect blend of apple flavor, warm spices, and a decadent caramel walnut topping. They are easy to make and sure to be a hit with your friends and family!
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon. 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg. 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce. 1/4 cup milk. 1/4 cup vegetable oil. 1 large egg. 1 tsp vanilla extract. 1 cup diced apples peeled and cored. 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. 1/4 cup caramel sauce store-bought or homemade.
Instructions: Grease a donut pan and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 175 degrees Celsius. Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a big bowl. Applesauce, milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract should all be combined in a separate bowl. Mixing until just combined, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Add the diced apples and fold. About two thirds of the way up, fill each donut cavity in the pan with batter. A toothpick inserted into a donut should come out clean after baking for 12 to 15 minutes. After a few minutes, let the donuts cool in the pan before moving them to a wire rack to finish cooling. Toast the chopped walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat until fragrant and lightly browned while the donuts are cooling. After the donuts have cooled, drizzle them with caramel sauce and top with toasted walnuts. Your baked apple donuts with caramel walnut topping are ready to be served and enjoyed!
