I don’t know if this was public knowledge, but I just discovered something. In Crown of Midnight’s Acknowledgements, Sarah J Maas thanks her friend Susan Dennard and calls her her anam cara. The word reminded me of something else, used later in the series: caranam. A magic-soul-mate of sorts. A person who could strengthen your magic and vice versa. So I looked up the meaning of anam cara. It literally means soul friend. It comes from the celtic concept. See attached photos. I’m mind blown. Was I the only one to not realize this?
