Texas is, of course, a Republican stronghold, particularly oil-stained Dallas, and the political works that have dominated some recent fairs were not on offer, aside from a handful of exceptions, like the cheeky commentary at Carbon 12 from Swiss artist Olaf Breuning in the form of a $9,000 clay sculpture titled Scared of the Wall that showed five Trump-like figures facing a stone wall.
We are pleased to announce, for the 3rd consecutive year, Carbon 12's participation in the 2018 edition of Dallas Art Fair. In Booth B9, we will be exhibiting 7 artists from the gallery’s comprehensive program with our undeviating goal to elaborate on the current practises of our represented artists.
For this edition, Carbon 12 will be showing works by Bernhard Buhmann, André Butzer, Gil Heitor Cortesão, Philip Mueller, Sara Rahbar, Michael Sailstorfer and Amba Sayal-Bennett.

GIL HEITOR CORTESÃO – “UMBRA” Opens at Carbon 12 19 March – 5 May, 2018 Alserkal Avenue, Dubai
Umbra (19 March to 05 May 2018) is Portuguese painter Cortesão’s fourth solo show with Carbon 12. Shadows, as the Latin title suggests, are complex denizens of these works, both discursively and materially. In Cortesão’s palette, shadow is a projection, beamed from some spectral world. A grey eeriness wafts through the forsaken interiors of the Passage series, as well as the cell-like confines of the Room works. Color, an occasional Cortesão obsession, has succumbed to a shadowy chill.

Carbon 12 will be at NADA, NY starting today.
We are participating in the 2018 edition of NADA, NY for the 4th consecutive year. The gallery will be showing a duo presentation with works by Olaf Breuning and Amir Khojasteh. One exceptional and rare work of Sara Rahbar from 2011 will be in direct dialogue with both artist’s works and will add another layer of political discourse in our presentation.
