Meredith Frampton, A Game of Patience. 1937
Hi all! I’m finally back after my move, and just in time for this week’s new moon. For this moon phase, I thought I’d post one of my favorite spreads that I use as a sort of monthly check in with myself. I love this spread in particular because it can be customized however you want. Add cards, take cards away, or use this spread as a jumping off point to creating your own.
As it’s still early on in January, now is the perfect time for a six-month reading! If you’d like a half year reading or if you just want to learn more, feel free to message me here, on my website, or my Instagram.

You ever get the feeling you aren't getting the full story? Need a succinct, surface level probe into what's what? Here's a one card spread for that!
Let me know if you use this! I always appreciate feedback!
Magic on a Dime
Tarot
I'm always looking about for inexpensive or better yet, free ways to introduce tools into my craft, since not everyone's loaded. I have a number of wands that I hand made myself!
Tarot cards are a different thing though. You can make them yourself, but a certain level of arts and crafts skill is required to make a set that's not flimsy, so in general, you may need to splash a little cash for a set.
There's a few ways you can go about this. The houses of traditional tarot, wands, cups, swords and pentacles can correspond to those in a deck of playing cards. Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades. This can take a little research, but if you're online reading this, I assume you can find out more info on how to do this online.
Useful to have if you're in a situation where you can't be open about your craft. What roommates gonna question a deck of playing cards?
See? You don't need some big flashy deck, you can do this on pocket change :)
Then we have some of our classic decks, like the Rider Waite deck. You'll know this one on sight, it's one of the more commonly used decks, and I've seen these online going for a starting price of about $3 and it's not just the Rider Waite deck. I've seen a number of other decks for similar prices, so go explore.
Then there are the apps on things like Google Play. Yes, there are tarot apps. I'd start out experimenting with the free ones til you find one that works for you. Not all of them are guaranteed winners but you will find a couple of gems.
I'm actually using a Tarot app at the moment which was recommended to me by a friend, and the cards in the app? The people behind it are also selling them as a physical deck! Though the physical version is quite pricey so I'll stick with the app for now. Maybe someday.
Regardless, it's fairly inexpensive, or at least it was when I got it. Was about $3 then, but it's a one time payment, the art is beautiful, and it actually provides detailed meanings for every card in upright and upside down positions. Useful for me to have on hand if I don't have a physical deck with me. The name of the app is Patch Tarot, named for the character, Patch, who's displayed in all the cards. I've had it on my phone for maybe a year now.
I only thought to make this post coz I was using patch to help divine an answer for me on something.
So go on, look into all these different ways and do whatever's best for you.
If anyone can suggest other inexpensive ways to get into tarot, please tell me in the comments. Same if you know of any tarot apps. I'll add information here as I find it.
Stay Safe and have a Blessed Day 🙏😇
Below are the tools and sources that are recommended to me :)
We have the, 'Healing Light Tarot,' by The Fool's Dog on the Google Play Store, recommended by @achello. It's a beautiful deck with multiple spreads and a guide book! As of writing this, it's £3.89 and seems to be a very detailed tool. Thanks for telling me :)
