Plants:
The plants are anchored in the soil. They are the details, the way that the soil is currently expressed.
Soil:
The underlying conditions that brought forth the plants. It is not dependant on the plants. The soil is more far-reaching, more fundamental and more rigid than the plants; these things have probably been true for a long time.

The image depicts 3 flowers on the top half, and below it the ground in which they grew and their roots, which are intertwined. Over the roots and the flowers are the outlines of 5 cards, 3 over the flowers and 2 over the roots. They are numbered, from left to right, top to bottom, 4, 3, 5, 1, 2.

I made this spread to use with the seed and sickle oracle card deck, but it'd be useful for any deck and i think most general readings.
The spread is a bit like a cause and effect spread, but also has some more nuance, and the plants don't have to be entirely caused by the roots, but they are shaped by them. It's like, what you use to grow has an influence on you, but the plants are more temporary than the soil.
A possible way this could turn out is that the roots imply that the querent has anger issues, and the way that is currently expressed on the plant side is a difficult relationship with loved ones, but it doesn't always express itself that way necessarily. But these cards could also be in opposite places, and then a strained relationship with loved ones is currently expressing itself in anger issues.
To me this spread is great for most readings that don't have a very specific question, and even then it's sometimes useful, so i hope it'll be useful to some of you!
Please feel free to edit it to best work for you and share with me any stories of you using it if you want to.
