Hot Feet, you need to know this band... NOW.
This song, Cardomam, was the opening song to their set the other night at the Wilmington Arms to celebrate the release of their debut EP, Wood House, available here: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/wood-house-ep/id566655132 . I cannot recommend this enough. You need to have this. You can see by this how amazingly talented they are. I end up staring in wonder when they perform, partially because I'm not sure how the guitarist does not hit his head on the ceiling (he's so tall). The other part is that their sound is rich, and Marianne's vocals take it to one step beyond greatness. Seriously, you need to know this band.
The support, Ballina Whalers & Emily and the Woods, were fantastic in their own rights, and I will probably be posting a vid from each just so you know what you missed.
Funny story. I actually recognized the song from one of my favourite compilations, Communion's Flowerpot Sessions as done by another artist. I loved it there, and I love it even more here. So if you hear a slightly broken voice singing along, that would be me with my still as not fully repaired vocal chords. Sorry. Side note, the Flowerpot Sessions compilation also introduced me to the EP's producer, Pete Roe. Interesting how the circle closes. :)
Also, I'm going to say this one last thing. When I find new good music that I love, I promote the shit out of it because I believe that good music should always be given the chance to thrive. Maybe it's from being a musician myself or just that I like supporting the underdogs. I don't know, but I can only hope that one day someone will do for me what I do for others. Yes, now go get this album.
Correction: Apparently, Communion labeled the artist wrong for "Cardomam" on the Flowerpot Sessions compilation. It was in fact Hot Feet (written by Marianne & Jack). A big thanks to Marianne's dad for letting me know!
