The Tale of Hanukkah Bear ✡️🕎❤️💖💞
It was cold late autumn morning in Care-a-Lot. Wonderheart Bear along with baby Hugs and Tugs were still finishing off eating their Halloween candy they were given.
"Too much candy will make your teeth fall out, little wonder," Tenderheart advised Wonderheart. Grams Bear meanwhile, also gave Hugs and Tugs the similar advice.
"Now, now m'dears, save some candy for later," She said to them. Everyone else in Care-a-Lot were even getting excited for Christmas, even though it's still early... Trick-or-Sweet Bear was just about to make his usual departure on the cloud clipper, back to his humble abode until next year, when Wonderheart, Hugs and Tugs came running over.
"I'll b back next year, little ones," Trick-or-sweet said, giving them a care hug, "Now, I would like u to say hello to the new resident of Care-a-Lot."
They looked up and saw the new care bear stepping down the ramp off the cloud clipper. He had blueberry-coloured fur. His new belly badge depicted of a spinning dreidel decorated with multicoloured hearts and stars. He also had a 6 pointed star shaped marking in the middle of his forehead.
"Cubs, meet Hanukkah," Trick-or-sweet Bear said. And with that, he boarded the cloud clipper and waved goodbye to the bears below until they could no longer see the ship that magically sailed away into the sky.....
"Welcome to Care-a-Lot Hanukkah!" Wonderheart said excitedly, " I'm Wonderheart Bear, and this is baby Hugs and Tugs."
"Er, very nice to meet you little ones," Hanukkah said, a little nervously. The Cubs were eager to know more about the new arrival and pretty soon, everyone in Care-a-lot knew about Hanukkah, even Birthday Bear and Grumpy Bear.
"I resemble the Jewish holiday that began long before Christmas came along..." Hanukkah Bear said to them, "We celebrate it for 8 days, sometimes it begins in autumn, and sometimes it overlaps the Christmas period, even though Hanukkah and Christmas are unrelated.. which is a bit of a shame, of course, but, no big deal.."
The residents of Care-a-Lot then decided to host a party to welcome Hanukkah as part of the Care Bear family.
Aww, how sweet! Hanukkah thought, but do they understand the festive Jewish tradition very well? Better go and ask someone.
He caught sight of Grumpy unloading things from his magic bag. Hanukkah went over and asked Grumpy about what he knew about the tradition.
"Umm, rings a bell.." Grumpy replied, "I think I've got something in there.." He rummaged through his magic bag and pulled out a brass menorah.
Hanukkah was delighted.
"Sorry I don't have any candles in me bag, Hanukkah," Grumpy said, " Ask Birthday bear next, he can make scrumptious cupcakes with birthday candles on them.."
Hanukkah then went on to ask Birthday bear just down a winding lane.
"I'd be very happy to share some of my birthday candles with your menorah, Hanukkah," Birthday Bear said.
Care-a-Lot was getting dark and everything in the hall of hearts was soon ready... What they didn't know about Hanukkah Bear was his forehead star marking can glow at night or when things get dark with one gentle rub...
Tenderheart then set off to find Hanukkah and was amazed by his glowing forehead marking.
"Aw wow!" Tenderheart said, "How unique!"
"Thank you," Hanukkah replied, "It's the Star of David marking that lights up in the dark when most lights go out, etc..."
The two bears then made their way toward the hall of hearts where Hanukkah was greeted with a warm welcome... Hanukkah even carried the menorah in one paw and nine birthday candles in the other... He even showed everyone at the party what his belly badge could do; make some spinning dreidels, especially for the Cubs to play with. Hanukkah even taught Bedtime Bear a few lullabies in Hebrew. The Care Bears were happy to have another festive bear in the family and Hanukkah was there to stay every year...
