D1 funeral hcs?

I have a feeling they would give like offerings to the deceased, like a cigar and wine and flowers by their grave. They are the luxury district and the richest of the districts so I can think some families can spare doing that. I’m sure they also have celebration of life parties with nice food and amazing stories.

I think it’d also be a common tradition to dress up the body in nice jewelry and cloths and makeup, yk making them extremely beautiful before their final transition to the afterlife or eternal sleep(whatever u believe the districts believe in)

Since it’s shown the Capitol and career districts like 2 have heavy Roman inspiration they tend to keep windows and doors open in the room the deceased one died to “let death escape”

They may also cut pieces of the deceased hair off and weave them into jewelry to preserve their essence and always have a small piece of their loved one with them at all times. It’s most popular to keep it in a locket with the deceased photo or something like the Victorian hairwork jewelry.

I saw a Tiktok comment that reminded me about Cashmere and Gloss being siblings and now I want to talk about it.

So Cashmere won the 64th Hunger Games, with her brother Gloss winning the year before, and can you imagine the trauma that itself gave them?

Being from a career district, Cashmere and their family were probably very proud of Gloss for being reaped but there must have been some fear in her that she was going to lose her brother because there are 2 other career districts whose tributes could win and there's also the female district 1 tribute to think about. When Gloss wins, he is probably traumatised from his Games and may be in fear of his sister getting reaped the following year after experiencing everything he went through in his Games. The following year comes and what may likely have been Gloss' biggest fear comes true, his sister volunteers (maybe because she was to be glorified like the brother she looks up to) and goes to the games. If we assume that the most recent victor was the mentor for the following years' tributes, imagine Gloss having to be his sister's mentor, knowing that he could be the only person who has the most influence over her survival, since the mentors are the ones in charge of getting sponsors for the tributes. Cashmere, who may still be under the brainwashing of the capitol likely left Gloss excited to start the games but I bet Gloss was in utter fear that he will lose her. Obviously, they both win and likely become even closer siblings due to their shared trauma.

Now comes the 75th Hunger Games and both are reaped for it together. There are 2 scenarios I can think of, either it was 100% rigged and they were purposely reaped (since district 1 is known for having lots of victors so the odds of it being the 1 sibling pair and LOW) or one was reaped so the other volunteered to try and protect them. They know that the best-case scenario is where only one of them lives, so I wouldn't be surprised if one was trying to ensure the survival of the other, maybe even the 2 of them trying to get their mentor to choose the other sibling over them. Can you imagine going into the games, knowing that it's likely the last time you will ever see your sibling and that they may have to live with the trauma of watching you die? They likely also hope that they die before it's just the 2 of them left because there's no way they would kill the other, and sacrificing themselves in that scenario would probably infuriate the capitol even more.

I’m excited to read Haymitch’s Hunger Games story, but what I REALLY want as a die-hard Career enthusiast, self-proclaimed District 4 girlie (who will die mad about them not being a career district in the films) is a Finnick Odair prequel.

Well. It depends.

In the book we know 4 is considered a career district. I think that really makes it interesting to consider Annie and Finnick. I think we can argue that despite being young, Finnick probably volunteered. He wouldn't have known those skills from trade training alone, not at 14. Annie didn't have her breakdown until DURING the games, and I maintain that she is not crazy just severely traumatized. Severe PTSD in that girl.

Canonically they are a career district. In THG first movie we don't see that, we see Cato take that 4 boy out IMMEDIATELY in the Bloodbath when he's hiding in the cornucopia. (In the book he also died in the blood bath, but the girl was with them and died with Glimmer from the Tracker Jacker attack I believe). So depending on which canon you take, you determine if they're careers or not.

I think it makes SENSE that they'd be careers. Fishing would be a big resource for a place like Panem especially when you consider the champagne taste of the capitol. Finnick would make sense as a volunteer, because he was young but he was CLEARLY skilled, and the glory of being the youngest victor ever would be a draw for careers.

The...loyalty.. of D4 as a career district is definitely called into question during the Quell. Very naturally D1 and D2 ally themselves together, but Finnick is not included in that alliance (for reasons we know and understand, but if D4 were SOLIDLY careers it would have been expected for him to team up with them). I think 1 and 2 are ALWAYS careers ALWAYS volunteers and are a solid alliance always.

As the local careers apologist and enthusiast I am team D4 career supporter.

If only because Finnick has that career boy arrogance.

I've been readingThe Hunger GamesandCatching Firethe past few days and there's one thing that's confusing me. I get why District 1 is a Career district, and I get why District 2 is, but how is District 4?

Maybe I'm missing something really obvious, but I really don't get it. Why is Distract 4, the fishers, a career district?
