I remember watching Oprah years ago and she said you should do, for a living, what you would be doing even if you didn’t get paid for it. I graduated valedictorian in high school, went to one of the best nursing schools in the south east, excelled in nursing, and was promoted to a leadership position within just a few years of graduating college. However, although I was good, actually excellent, it never really completely fulfilled me. I worked an educator role in a supportive role for professional development of nurses for six years. When I would teach and guide the new graduate nurses and seasoned nurses… I still alive! Three years ago, I inadvertently came across a position where I could work from home and help people in career transitions. It completely changed my life. I’ve worked with close to 3000 job seekers. I find myself being able to be, not only provide evidence-based practice on the best strategy for landing at position, but also having the opportunity to coach, mindfully listen, direct, and encourage people. Additionally, as a bonus… I have been able to tap in to my nursing experience, particularly mental health, to help job seekers realize they’re a whole person. Even those they lost their jobs from a business decision only and received a severance package, It still can be a bit jarring for any person to be let go. I literally love what I do!! What would I be doing anyways even if i didn’t get paid for it? I can answer that now… I will be encouraging and directing people. What would you be doing even if you didn’t get paid for?
