Character in general: I don’t think I’ve ever disliked Ratchet, but it was only when I rewatched TFA in 2014 that he got a place in my heart as a character I could really relate to. Despite (or perhaps because of) his grouchy exterior, he’s so lovable as a character. He’s been through a lot in his life and he has every reason to be an unapologetic ass to everyone, but he doesn’t. He cares a lot about his team and even complete strangers (lookin at u Arcee) and won’t ever give up on anyone, even when he has his doubts. He tries so hard, no matter what. God damn, I love Ratchet.How they play them: Faye plays one hell of a Ratchet. Not just one Ratchet, but all of them. Their grasp on TFA Ratchet is so good that they can make his defection to the Decepticons believable and that’s no easy feat, especially when they still make him feel like Ratchet. His caring nature isn’t thrown away at all despite his change of faction. No matter what verse we’ve interacted in, their Ratchet has always been spot on.The Mun: Faye is best wine mom. I love talking to them whenever we get the chance and getting the Feelings™ over our old man ship. I also really appreciate their support when I’m not feeling the best -- the reassuring words really mean a lot ;-;
Do I:
RP with them: yes!Want to RP with them: of course!
What is my;
Overall Opinion: I love everything about Faye’s Ratchet, from his coarse exterior to his truly caring interior. I just -kisses them both-
« 🎻 » || Starscream wraps his arms around Ratchet’s middle from behind, cooing and chirring a greeting more pleasant than most would ever even hope to get from him. His talons wandered, idly, and he rested his chin on the medic’s shoulder.
“You know,” he murmured, “little Autobots shouldn’t be wandering so far from home by their lonesome. They might get snapped up.”
She had talked enough about the situation, and did some self reflection, but now all she wanted to do was be near Ratchet. If anything, he helped calm her down. With little regard for personal space, the arachnicon laid belly down on the work bench that Ratchet was working at. It was easy to spot her from the corner of his optic, as she was clearly not trying to hide.
He looked up from his microscope, “Can I help you dear?”
“No, I just want to be near you.”
“...alright.”
“What are you working on?”
“The same project I’m always working on...”
She nodded silently as she watched him get back to work. She watched him work without saying anything for some time, but over the course of a few hours, she grew bored. She started to poke Ratchet’s hand servo, arm, and whatever else she could reach with her own talons.
The touches did not go unnoticed, as the medic looked up from his microscope again and asked, “Are you sure you do not want to talk about anything?” She normally poked and prodded at him like that when she wanted to talk, or when she wanted attention. And he does not mind listening to her vent at all, he actually rather enjoyed listening to her talk.
She glanced away for a moment, “Well, something did happen lately. But I’ve already talked about it enough, and I don’t want to talk about it anymore.” It was very apparent that it was still bothering her, it was in her tone and written all over her faceplate.
He found it odd that she did not come to him first, as he is normally the first mecha to find out anything about her, but he would not press for more details. If she did not want to talk to him about it, that was her choice, and he would respect it. However, he still wanted to put her mind at ease. Or at least, provide some kind of distraction from whatever was bothering her. And he knew exactly how to do that.
He started to put his supplies away, which got a curious helm tilt out of her. “What are you doing?”
“Putting things away. I think this project can wait a while.”
Cue a few wide-eyed and confused blinks, “But I...” She did not even have to force him to do that, she would have been completely content with watching him work.
He offered her a small smile as he stroked his chin, “Besides, I know something that will help you feel slightly better. I’ve been reading up on some old human horror films and I think I found one you would enjoy. It’s about a giant spider that, well, kills humans.” He also made this suggestion so they could stop watching the one they have been watching over and over again. Watching a movie 23 times was absurd, and it is the closest thing he has gone through that could count as torture ever since coming aboard this ship.
She did not expect him to go to such lengths, or that he had bothered to look into these horror films at all. Her mouth was open in shock and her hand servos covered it for a moment before she stood on the table only to hop down. Once on the ground, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and nuzzled the front of his helm happily, “Oh Ratchet! You’re too sweet! And here I thought you didn’t like those movies!”
“I’ll admit, they’ve grown on me.” He kissed her forehelm before he took her hand servo to lead her to her personal quarters. And as soon as they arrived, he put a blanket over her shoulders before he started to walk out of the room again. After all, it was not movie night unless she had her tea. “Amethyst, two chunks?” She smiled and gave a nod before she watched him slip through the doorway. As soon as he left, she pulled the blanket over her faceplate and flicked her glossa for a moment to get a good whiff of the blanket, being sure to not get acid on it.
A few minutes later, he returned and handed the cup to her before he pulled the covers over himself as well. As she adjusted herself, he pulled out the datapad and searched the datanet for the movie, and as soon as it was found, he started to play it for her.
The movie was cheesy, the effects were terrible, the plot was practically nonexistent, and it was wonderful.
As soon the movie was finished, Ratchet placed another kiss on her forehelm before he noticed that she was already starting to doze off. He did not want to disturb her, as that could result in the loss of limbs, so he opted to stay put and let her rest. Besides, it was nice to see her in a calm and content state.

[I love Faye’s Ratchet so much. He’s the right balance of too-old-for-this-shit and secretly-caring-old-man and I can never get enough of reading his interactions with others. Not to mention playing every Ratchet ever, I mean, that’s some damn hard work and they do it well – even more impressive is how they assigned multiple verses to several of these different Ratchets and they all work super well. My favourite has gotta be Decepticon TFA Ratchet ‘cause damn, it works. He doesn’t feel OOC in the slightest despite defecting and I’ve been in awe since Megatron first interacted with him.
Faye is the sweetest, honestly. They’re super kind and considerate and just generally good to chat and plot with, and they’re down for pretty much anything which is always good in my book. Every time I’ve spoken to them, they’ve brought a smile to my face and brightened my day, and that’s often meant a lot more to me than they know ♥]

FAYE! Yo okay, I actually first fell in love with Faye through their Leah blog, and I’ve followed them over the multitude of other blogs they’ve penned since. While I actually don’t think I’ve ever rp’ed with their Ratchet, I LOVE their writing. Every character they take on is so strong and unique it’s like a breath of fresh air, truly. Their take is always intriguing, and there’s a certain edge to the characters ( juxtaposed with softness ) that keeps reading replies exciting and interesting.
Not to mention, Faye has such a large heart. Mom for life. I love talking with them ( and ranting about the presidential election race ). I have so much respect for Faye, and really look up to them as a writer.
