————— between „that’s what she said“ and „i’m on top of it, susan!“there are moments where itachi finds himself struggling to understand nagato and, if he’s right in his assumptions, references only MUGGLES would be able to understand. never did he have the courage to point it out, smiles weakly and nods when with nagato, but today it’s getting WORSE. „what’s this? a potion for ants?“ and itachi FREAKS out. at least… for his standards freaking out means throwing his arms above his head, sighing very loudly before he’d take nagato’s arm to drag him closer.
❝ what are you talking about? ❞ pointing out that NO ONE can understand a thing of what he says ( or it might just be itachi, really ) might have been rude, and… itachi doesn’t want to live up to his family name.
His mentor once mentioned he’s a child of the internet, and it was probably referring to all the references to pop culture Nagato made from time to time, sometimes unwillingly as it came rather natural. It was funny actually, but he tried not to giggle. And it was somehow amusing how most of his Wizarding people had little to no idea what he was truly talking about. Once time he heard someone say he was insane.
However on top of all it seemed to drive Itachi nuts. He tried to refrain himself from such practices, until habit overcame reason and stuff like ‘that’s what she said’ came to light.
And now he came across the recipe for a potion so small that he just had to say his concerns out loud, at least to his friend. And as one might have guessed: another reference. (Even though this one wasn’t as obscure, he though, it was Zoolander for crying out loud.)
Nagato blinked slowly, with eyes wide in shock as he witnessed the stroke that broke the camel’s back: Itachi erupted in frustration.
“H-hey, calm down... It just means that it’s something so small that it can’t possibly be used for humans. So it’s for ants. You know what an ant is right...” Or at least he hoped he knew what a tiny ant was like. The tales of monster sized spiders in the Forbidden Forest still gave him the creeps.
