402: Just got lost there for a while. (Words by B.)

(one must imagine Ludwig Beilschmidt happy) Germany has its own brand of Carneval. It starts on 11/11 each year, and finds its finale over five days before ash wednesday. The biggest days being Rosenmontag and Veilchendienstag.

Back in the day, this tradition was started as a way for the common folk to be critical of the regime (and to give them a way to have some festivities before Lent) Nowadays this intend still rings true and is louder than ever, with bitey political comedy, and critically satirical parade wagons ( especially in Düsseldorf. Thank you, Tilly! ). The parades on those two days, wich happen in most cities in NRW at this time, are large and loud. Everyone wears costumes. The adults get to dance, and for kids ( tho not exclusively) candy gets thrown by metric tons! For a long time the top regime of carneval ( except for two positions ) was a mens thing. This has changed in recent years, with women now staffing some of the major driving forces. And whilst queer ppl have long been welcome to the parades, for the past few years they too are able to staff THE main positions in local carnevals. Namely the "Prinzenpaar" (royal pair), wich used to be m+f exclusive. If the Uniform Gilbert on the right is wearing looks suspiciously prussian, there is a reason for that. Many uniforms during carneval are in fact pokeing fun of the old prussian uniforms, because way back when this part of germany was prussian, the prussians tried to forbid the carneval. Or at the very least make it more strict and organized. How successful they were is questionable. (I tried not to depict any city specific uniforms, but took heavy inspiration by the cologne ones.)

Since I am apparently way too slow for art fight, I will be working on some things during August instead, even if it won't give points anymore!

Little gift for @miniiinebulaee ! I love Radish a normal amount. He's such a sassy bastard (affectionately) <33 Went for a mix of Hollow Knight and Cuphead, ended up looking way too much like HK. I just had to add a speech bubble thing as a skill indicator though, can't have Radish be silent - he strikes me as the kind of guy who's hard to shut up xD

Pulcinella Secret | Part 2: La Peste e Moretta

"Moretta must know" said her sister.

So the two stars ran to the Lady, the party was already starting, the guests were coming in and the two were running through the corridors.

"How did he even get in?" said Moretta, breaking her vow of silence. But the two sisters had no idea.

So Moretta, left in the garden, kept thinking. Until La Peste started chatting

He asked her how she was but she didn't answer, he asked her to dance and she didn't answer, then he told her that it she were to tell him a secret he would give her one back.

So she said "Pulcinella was seen digging something up in the garden".

La Peste seemed confused but happy so he said "Well, my secret is that I'm late to a meeting, but I'm not sorry because I got to be late because of you"

He did a curtsy and left her, without even kissing her hand goodbye.

He was finding his way out when he found a corkscrew on the floor. He picked it up and kept walking, with a secret he had to keep in his pocket.

But as most Pulcinella secrets go…
