Caroline ending her friendship with Elena, not because of Matt or Damon or anything like that. Not because of any actual crime she committed. But because of her clothing choices and how she chose to dye her hair. (and of course, becoming friends again once the dye comes out and her clothes change again, or just Caroline deciding she doesn't care as long as you don't do that to her)

"It's called being 'ex communicated' and it is Carolines highest act of disapproval. She ex communicated Bonnie for a month once because she kept wearing her hair in a way Caroline hated. God that was in like the fourth grade. She ex communicated me for an entire summer because I had the audacity to win the little drama camp acting contest. Shes mellowed out a lot since the last time she did it, but man. It's a real fear."
