One of my favourite quotes is: "I would start a war for you".

Carter Reed by Tijan - blurrypetals review
originally posted dec. 9, 2019 - ★★☆☆☆
I usually read Tijan's books for the stupid dumb trash that they are because sometimes I really love stupid dumb trash. Sometimes it is the best thing. Evil will always be one of my favorite guilty pleasures because it is so mind-numbing that it ends up being enjoyable. I felt similarly about the Fallen Crest books. This book, however, felt annoying, repetitive, and it wasn't ridiculous enough to transcend from bad to incredibad. I'm trying to barrel through 5 more books before the end of 2019 and I wasn't about to waste any more precious time trying to finish this.
Carter Reed
I got a tiny bit obsessed making my OCs in dress up games.
Meet Agent Carter Reed (above, azaleasdolls.com fairy tale).

Carter bought his way out of the mafia to protect Emma, but when an old ghost returns to the Mauricio Family, a chain of events starts that can harm everyone. While Carter must decide to return to the Mauricio Family or not, a face that is oddly familiar to Emma comes into her life. She’s given the chance to discover more about her family while tension between the rivaling Mauricio and Bertal Family comes to a head in an explosive way. The truce is officially off, and when the two worlds collide, Carter’s decision is made. He didn’t start this war, but he will end it. He will do anything to protect Emma. (FROM GOODREADS)

This was freaking amazing!!
THIS is what I expected from this story when I read COLE!!
this tension, emotions, and action!!
the story is on a whole new level comparing to the first book!!
and there was so much happing left and right! I just get a moment to breathe then the next thing happens and it makes me hold my breath again!!
This book was packed! there was action, and if there wasn’t then there were emotionally filled moments, I cried in one of them and there were several times I was moved to tears!
as I said the story was GREAT!!!
And in this book Cole was introduced!! YAY! It was really great to see him again! reading about him again makes me want to reread COLE once more!! I really liked him!!
as in the first book, Carter and Emma are both great!! really loved these two!!
This book was also from both Carter’s and Emma’s POVs as it’s previous !! the different thing is that there were more scenes from Carter’s PVO then the previous book, which is great !! there were many details needed to be known and that wouldn’t have happened if it’s wasn’t from his POV!! I really liked to be in Carter’s head!! I love multiple POVs!!
I’m really glad I read this book and haven’t given up on reading it because of the first book!! it was amazing!!

Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by her boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place. (FROM GOODREADS)

I’m sad to say this wasn’t what I expected!
This isn’t the first book I’ve read by Tijan!! and I liked her books!
I had great expectations for this book for two reasons!
one, it’s by Tijan
two, I’ve read before a book by Tijan named (COLE) and it was amazing! at the time I was hesitating what to read first COLE or Carter Reed and I choose COLE because it was standalone, what I found later while reading COLE is that it’s a spinoff about one of the characters from Carter Reed! and of course, I was spoilered about some of the things that happen in Carter Reed (not much but that don’t change the fact that I was spoilered) and from what I got from COLE I thought Carter Reed was going to be packed with actions !!
And here was what I was disappointed about! this book was lacking too much!
There were so little actions in this book! I thought a book about the mob and the main character having a target sign over her head by a mob family and her protector was from the other family that there’s going to be so much happening in this book
but there were so little actions and therefore so little emotions involved!
I didn’t feel anything (about the story)! there was no sense of excitement and no staying on edge while worrying over what’s going to happen next ! none of that!
the one thing that saved this book for me and it’s the one thing I have absolutely confided in Tijan to deliver is her characters!! and to be precise her bad boys' characters!!
I don’t know how she does it! but Tijan has a way of writing bad boys and dangers men characters and at the same time makes them the perfect boyfriend materials!!
even if I didn’t like or had my complaints about the story (as of is now) I always like the characters!! and they always stick in my head!!
In this book the great characters were many!!
I obviously loved Carter! and I don't have any complaints about Emma, she was great!!
even the sidekick characters were amazing!! I loved both Theresa and Amanda !!
even though I’ve complained about this book I have no intention about not reading the next book and more of Tijan’s books!!
