Derek hadn't heard of Carter for almost a week, but Colton had brought the two children into work almost everyday. It was odd. Carter barely missed work, and when she did it was when she was pregnant or taking care of the children, but they were at work with Colton. Derek began to get extremely worried about Carter. He woke up this morning and decided he needed to see what was going on. He drove to Carter's house, his hands tapping on the steering wheel as he tried to control his nerves. He knew for sure that something was not right.
As he arrived at her house, he let out a large sigh before hoping out of the car, his hands straightening his clothing. He walked up to the large door and knocked loudly three times, his eyes looking around his surroundings to ensure that no one was watching him. After 5 minutes, Derek reached down to where Carter and Colton kept the spare key, pushing it into the lock to open the large door, his eyes wandering the premises. He walked down the hallway, looking in every room there was. That's when he saw it. In the nursery. Blood. He pulled his gun from his holster before holding it strong out in front of him, worry showing on his face. He noticed that one of the room's door was locked, his hand wrapping around the handle, jiggling it trying to get it open. After hearing silence, he stepped back and kicked the door, causing the lock to break but the hinges to stay intact. That's when he saw Carter lying on the bed, her body beaten and bruised. He pushed his gun back into the holster before rushing over to her, her eyes shut. He felt the tears well up, expecting her to be deceased due to the amount of injuries it looked as though she had gone through. He pressed his two fingers onto her lacerated wrists, checking for a pulse. After he felt her heartbeat, his body weakened next to her bed. He pushed the hair out of her eyes before shaking her, trying to get her to wake up.
"Come on, baby girl. You can do this..."
