Spec-Dinovember Day 6: Only a Mother Could Love, a species with lots of fleshy ornaments such as bald patches, caruncles, or wrinkles
Returning to the Island fauna we visited on Day 1, the local elasmarians have benefitted greatly from their new island habitat. With reduced predation pressure and an already small stature, they had free reign to fill up as many niches as possible. Some stayed relatively unchanged, some grew large and became the dominant herbivores of the islands, and some became like elaborate birds of paradise each more flamboyant than the last!

There are so so many crazy goofy things birds will grow out of their faces, and this prompt was perfect to explore mixing and matching some. For the upper dino I gave it the snoods of a Three Wattled Bell Bird, the neck wattles of a Southern Cassowary, and covered them in the caruncles of an Ocellated Turkey. For the lower dino I started with the mask of the Masked Lapwing, and extended it above the eyes like in a Ring-Necked Pheasant, and covered the neck in the lumpy skin of the Northern Cassowary (well, tried to. It turned out looking way lumpier but still neat). There was a third one that got sketched out using Andean Condors, King Vultures, and regular Turkeys as a reference, but I didn't have time to develop it further, oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
