rem tene caro sequentur
“The gods have come.” She knew they had—she had spoken to them, and the noise of them became at times unbearable. He had flooded her senses with the onslaught of their voices. She hadn’t forgiven him for it, yet.
Under the blood moon, the runesmith came to meet with the surgeon. He volunteered his death to her.
My interpretation of Caryll and Rom+headcanons
Caryll
I think that Caryll would've been relatively quiet and is the type of person to unintentionally come off as an asshole. I also remember reading a fic where Caryll was (partially fwir) blind and I liked it because I think it's interesting considering their role in canon. Also enby Caryll REAL!!
Rom
Because of Rom's title in the Japanese version of the game and considering vacuous's second definition, I like to think that Rom is kinda an idiot (mostly intellectually but in behavior and social skills too). Other than that I think that Rom dispite her flaws would still be a very lovely and hardworking person, just not the smartest. I also imagine her being the shortest of the Byrgenwerth gang. P.S I need iosefka×rom content please, I need these lesbians in my life.

Did you just say..... "loosely mentioned characters you end up writing your own lore for"? :eyes emoji: Do you have some Caryll, Archibald and Izzy ideas then? Share pls nhgnhgb
Admittedly I was referring to Laurence, but I have absolutely done this for several other characters, usually to fill a story role and by staring with whatever little lore we do get of them!
I have a few for Caryll, though I need to develop more since I wanted to write a story set at Byrgenwerth! But I’ve had this idea that he’s capable of magic and may or may not be a seer and is probably a stoner, and that’s how he ends up discovering the runes. He‘s basically self-medicating to deal with it... in the notes for that story, actually, he grabs Laurence and tells him “You will be the one to open the door!” And Laurence is like “Okay, buddy, you’ve had too much, time to sleep.” Because, of course, if everyone knows you’re self-medicating, they’re far less likely to take your alarming prophetic moments seriously.
Archibald… I had picture him as being a socially awkward guy, probably a regular Hunter, who developed a resentment for the Church after they banned beast weapons and beast pellets (because it was a Bad Look after Old Yharnum and they didn’t want people making an association between Hunters and Beasts, origins wise.) He left the Church out of frustration that some people (the Harrowed and the Choir) were still allowed to use/research beasts in secret, and joined up with the School of Mensis after their schism, since Micolash was more open to him researching Dark Beasts obsessively… possibly even to the point of catching one to let Archibald keep and study it. Because Darkbeast Paarl is rather weirdly placed, as bosses go, and given all the other weird monsters Mensis either made or turned a blind eye to someone else making… yeaaah.
I don’t actually have anything for Izzy yet! But I’ll go look at lore and probably form some really specific opinions :’D I… hope these made sense, haha

Caryll Houselander: Our Christianity is a Utility Religion.
Caryll Houselander was a mystic, religious writer, artist, and notorious eccentric with both a great capacity for work and a willingness to expend herself in serving others who wanted her counsel. Among her most popular books was her autobiography A Rocking-Horse Catholic and The Reed of God, her meditation on Mary. She died in 1954, at the age of 53. She’s also a writer readers tend either to…
