“You really think so?” Her eyes shifted upwards, a bright and earnest glimpse of emerald seeking to permeate his soul. Much as it pained her, Tseng’s opinion was the validation she craved. It had been a source of much frustration for years, the way she always seemed hellbent on giving his words more power than they strictly deserved. Whether he was cutting her down, or building her up, he always managed to do it so calmly, so casually, but with a degree of finesse that could haunt her for days.
Today she’s revelling in it, in the small bolstering of confidence his compliment had provided, as if to spurn the naysayers of Wallmarket that had so readily snubbed her as a dirt strewn weed and little more. Aerith’s fingers curled into the pristine fabric of her new attire, the gentle swish back and forth of lemon tinged cloth, light and playful beneath her touch as she smiled; emboldened and content to feel not only pretty, but strangely visible.
It’s a sentiment conveyed in the blush that graces her cheeks, the spring so easily restored to her step by one small, but entirely powerful remark. It’s beginning to colour the way she looks at him; thoughtful, perhaps even wistful as she half gnaws at her lower lip, speculating. “I never knew you were such a fashion connoisseur.”
