Casey - Illinois See Big Things
There is a town in Illinois who is determined to get you to make a diversion from exploring Route 66. So most people know that Route 66 starts (and ends) in Chicago and travels south through Illinois into Missouri and St Louis and that there are murals, curios and sights to see. If you consider a two hour diversion to a little town called Casey there are some really…..and I mean REALLY BIG THINGS…
Casey Illinois
A little town with lots of REALLY BIG STUFF.
We found a nice little KOA Journey Park
The Motor Home came out looking so good.
Oh, I forgot, We drove by the Arch in St. Louis on the way here.
But on to Casey and their Big Stuff
The first thing we noticed is that they had the largest Elk in the world.
I tried to Mail Something from there, but it came back with Postage Due.
But then I found another way to get rid of the pests.
Then Kim wanted to sit down for a while.
Our car could drive right under it.
We also found this amazing restaurant call Richard's Farm House Restaurant. There were all these little rooms, probably 5 of them. And they had a great Salad Bar, with Fresh breads, and Soup.
Then you could also have the Meat Buffet. With about any kind of cooked meat you could want. Ribs, Steak, Pork,,,
The Bread was To Die For. Their big thing was a Pitch Fork

Day 5 Of Life On The Road!
I’m not gonna lie.. I really didn’t know much about what was in Illinois besides Chicago..
But its a pretty huge state, so it must have SOMETHING cool, right?
Well, before getting back in the car and jumping on the road, I pulled up Google Maps and zoomed in, searching my route for nearby attractions.
And one of the first things to come up was the worlds largest rocking chair..
I just kind of.. laughed
Then next to it was the worlds largest mailbox.. then pencil.. car key..??
Who knew that the town the Casey, Illinois was home to so many of the worlds largest things??
Obviously.. I headed straight there.

What also shocked me.. was the amount of TOURISTS HERE!
I soon felt like I was the last one to hear of this place..
Most of the ‘sculptures’ are within walking distance of each other, and you’ll see many groups walking from one to the next while in the town.

I think the Worlds Largest Mailbox was probably the coolest one! You could actually go up inside of it and mail a letter!
After snapping a picture I almost walked away, until a nice lady informed me that when you send a letter, the flag on the side will go up! Her and her friend each brought letters to send so they could each watch it go up! How CUTE!

Not only does this town have a lot to check out, it is also extremely adorable and you could easily find a lot to do and places to eat.

Maybe next time I’ll just stay here! If you’re taking a road trip across the US like me, make sure to stop by for some pictures!

What is your favorite thing to see in Illinois?
Casey, Illinois - home of 13 + world’s records including as pictured; the world’s largest rocking chair as well as the world’s largest mailbox. That is my cousin Stacy standing inside, we found out that it is actually a working mailbox you can really send mail there.

Out the front of Richard’s Farm Restaurant, a really great place to get some local fare in an old barn house. Try the one pound pork chop!
