Our March session sees the General Echo Sound System going digital for a sleng teng inspired special. In 1984 Wayne Smith, Noel Davey and King Jammy came up with one of the first fully computerised rhythm tracks in reggae using a basic casio keyboard and revolutionised the sound of dancehall. It's since become a signature sound in wider pop culture, mutated and re-approriated by everyone from The Bug to M.I.A to Robyn to Major Lazer. We'll also be dropping some other digidub delights throughout the evening, plus 2 special guests: COMPUTER CRASH - coming all the way from Northern France (via Tottenham) to amaze and delight with his box of digital selections. MARK HART (These Days/Walthamstow RocknRoll Book Club) - presents 'The History Of Sleng Teng' - education in the dance! All of this takes place in one of Walthamstow's loveliest boozers, a short walk from the tube and bus station. Admission is FREE.
