Glendalough Whiskey 7 y.o. Mizunara Cask Finish Batch 1
The Glendalough 7 Year Old Single Malt (Mizunara Finish) is far more than just another Irish whiskey. It forms an exciting bridge between the ‘Emerald Isle’ and the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’.
This single malt spent the majority of its maturation in American bourbon barrels before being transferred to rare Mizunara casks from the forests of Hokkaido for its final finishing period. These casks impart a very distinctive character to the whiskey, often associated with notes of sandalwood, incense, and coconut.
The Glendalough 7 Mizunara is not a ‘daily dram’ for casual drinking. It is a whisky to be savoured. The combination of typical Irish smoothness and the almost sacred spiciness of the Japanese wood makes it one of the most interesting experiments on the Irish market in recent years.
Tip: Give this whisky at least 10–15 minutes to breathe in the glass. The Mizunara aromas need oxygen to fully unfold.
