They're not as difficult as humans. Anyway, he eventually gets interested in the language of flowers and leaves a new bouquet on Sam's desk or Sam's place at the table every day. Eventually, Sam catches on.

It’s called How To Love The Devil (on the orphan_account because I since deleted my old AO3), and in Chapter 12 Lucifer creates a garden and chooses flowers to plant in it that, basically, all say ‘I love you and I always will’.
I love Lucifer learning the meaning and symbolism of flowers and I always see him as someone who adores nature and plants because of their simplicity and beauty and because he loved them long before his fall already. And animals of course. Lucifer loves plants and animals! Animals don’t judge and simply love, plants are not toxic like most humans are and don’t hurt anyone. This is one of the few things I am always keeping with me because it’s such an obvious part of Lucifer’s character and addressing it is very important for me.
