OK, so as you may or may not know, I was the impossibly lucky bugger that won the signed poster for The In-Between. When I got the tweet to say I’d won, I literally ran up and down the street jumping up and down and shaking. (Yes, there are witnesses to this.) My hands were freezing to death, but I tweeted as best as I could my thanks and I was just so blown away because I never ever win these sorts of things and never something as cool as THIS.
For those of you that don’t know what The In-Between is (PLAGUE ON YOUR HOUSEHOLD.) then seriously go check it out. Go. Open a new tab. Go to iTunes. Whatever. I’ll wait until you’ve fallen in love with it (and you /will/ fall in love with it).
The very first song I heard from it was Beyond the Door (because Hadley is amazing and any song Hadley sings is a song I need to own) and the very first WORDS had me basically going “THIS SONG. I LIKE IT. ANOTHER!” About a week later I got an iTunes gift card and the first thing I bought was the rest of the soundtrack (well. I thought so anyway. Found out like a month later that there was a song I forgot to buy, so I know Not Alone waaay less than the others. Whoops sorry Liam and Alexia. I freakin’ adore it though. Songs like that make me wish I had a male duet partner. My friends are getting sick of pretending to be the guy in my duets.)
Within a few days all the songs had taken over as my top played songs that I’ve had for ages and ages (knocking Killian’s “Who Am I” off the top spot, and as anyone who knows me will tell you, I play that a LOT.) I don’t ever do this ever ever with anything else, but whenever I listen to TIB, I always play it right through. Whenever one song comes up on shuffle, I just jump back to the beginning and play all the songs.
Here was the part where I was gonna thank each and every person involved for their existence, but I’d probably go full-on sappy so let’s not do that.

Aww hell let’s just do it a little bit. Go through the songs at least.
She’s My Sister. Just. Guh. I love this song just so. damn. much. Cassandra and Dianne’s voices go so well together (forever annoyed that there is only one of me so I can’t sing both parts at the same time. Believe me, I’ve tried.) and honestly I think my favourite part of it the song is how splendidly BRITISH and ENGLISH it all sounds and siiigghhh it’s just so good. And the lyrics are hilarious and just ugh. Best song.
Never Expect. (Resisting urge to just quote the whole song here.) Musically, the drum beat throughout the chorus is actually my favourite thing on the whole album. It’s just a little thing, but I think it adds so much. Makes me wanna march and pump my fists and just gosh darn it I love it. Also the lyrics are just really great and it sucks for the rest of us that they’re so relatable but they ARE and love singing along to it. Sabrina’s “make somebody prooUuUuuUuuDD” (y’know the one that goes all vocally difficult for the rest of us and also all the bits after that) is just stunning as well.
(oh god now I’ve done a paragraph for each song so far ahaha better not do like a sentence for the others that would be ruuude.)
Out of Your World. Well this song is actually greatly named because the music is all spacey and could be in a Doctor Who Christmas Special. It just makes me happy whenever I listen to it. I do genuinely feel like I’m chillaxing on the moon or something when I hear it. I close my eyes and I see like lots of tin foil and cheesy Star Trek aliens, and I really do mean that in the best way. And Daniel really does bring something to the character and makes him all adorable and I just want to hug him forever and ever and the “apparently it’s fun” is so cute ugh. Love it.
When I Was Nineteen. Oh man. This song. /This song/. My TEARS OF SADNESS basically convey my feelings for this song, but there’s so much more than that. I really like the repetition at each of the verses with their ages. Idk man I just really like it. And Julie’s voice just super makes this song. She sings it so wonderfully and you can feel the pain and all the emotions and just wow. How do you even do that ‘cause I’d love to do that. I adore it all.
Beyond the Door. Oh man guys this is like the greatest song on the whole planet. This may sound ridiculous, but Hadley’s vocals in the chorus make me wanna sway. Personified, his voice in the chorus is like a swaying dance and I physically cannot listen to this song without doing a stupid hand-dancey waltz thing. Ask anyone. It’s… hard to explain but yeah this song makes me move. The first time I heard this song (and indeed the first time I heard any TIB song) I’m pretty sure I made some weird-ass sound that was meant to convey my adoration from the very first growled line of the song. Guh Hadley how so talented. (sorry this is becoming a Hadley appreciation paragraph) But basically yeah Hadley takes us on a musical journey through this song and I feel sorry for anyone else who sings this (except Scott Garnham who’s doing it at West End Live wooop! Except no I still feel sorry for Scott because HADLEY. And Hadley is just so Hadley and Hadley and shhhhh self shut up.) So yeah Beyond the Door. Musical journey. Perfection.
Someone You’d Be Proud Of. Don’t this song just make ya wanna be a better person? Because it does to me. I listen to this and think, “huh. maybe I /can/ be a better person.” Cheesy but c’est très true. I have no idea why, but I simply adore the way Lauren sings “If something needed saving I was not the one you’d pick.” There’s a part in each of the songs I look forward to the most, and that’s the line for me in that song. I can just picture it in my head being acted so clearly as if I was watching a video. That’s a talent to be able to do that vocally alone.
Not Alone. Haha aka the song I didn’t know existed until someone mention Liam in regards to TIB and I was like “what. He is not on that album don’t be SILLY.” but turns out both he and Alexia actually had a song together. So sorry for my idiotic-ness! xD But yeah. I know this song a lot less than the others, but from the few (few in comparison to the rest of the album, lots in comparison to your regular Joe song.) times I have heard it I freakin’ love it. “I can’t stop the dark, I can’t change the world but I can take your hand, I can tell you I’m here, and that we’ll make it through somehow.” n’awww guys that part is just so lovely. It just really really sums up the whole message of the show and YAY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and turning earlier lines on their head and making it positive and it is glorious. And Liam in this song is wonderful. He has a properly loverly sound to his voice and he really super suits this song. Alexia also super just works with this song and the character and yes. Their voices go so well together. Brilliant. Amazing.
So I hope I haven’t missed out any songs because then I’d have to go back and write even more than I already have, and nobody wants that (except me because wow I could write about this forever).
The last thing to talk about is the amazing person in charge. The leader of the show. The big boss. Laura Tisdall. Without her, none of this would have ever happened, and that would be very not good. Also mega super thanks for the SIGNED POSTER because seriously I just keep muttering “iloveyouyoubeautifulthingiloveyouiloveyooouuuu” to it and telling everyone in earshot about how amazing it is and how lucky I was to have won it. Seriously. Made my life.
Major thanks to all the cast as well for lending their voices to the songs and bringing it all to life and being amazing and for signing the poster yayyy! It’s taking me a while to decipher some of y’alls handwriting (I would name names and call you out but I /can’t/ because I can’t tell who it is haha) but I will eventually and know who some of the super wonderful messages are from. :D
So um yeah I don’t think I have anything else to say, but I will say this;
I honestly genuinely from the deepest part of my heart and soul wish The In-Between and everyone amazing person involved the greatest luck and happiness. Seriously.
