Verona

I was more than pleasantly surprised when I saw it at my fav local bookstore: Richard Murphy‘s epochal “Carlo Scarpa and Castelvecchio Revisited”, the present, very extended edition published in 2017. The book is a dedicated tribute to Carlo Scarpa’s magnum opus, the Castelvecchio in Verona which he consecutively remodelled in three stages between 1957 and 1975. This extensive work is most meticulously (and beautifully) documented by the author: the book literally bursts with details, analyses, drawings, photos and insights into the genesis of this incredible building, testament to the work of a dedicated researcher. It’s impossible to find a better book about this key work of Scarpa and, given its limited edition, every admirer of the master’s work should own a copy. As you might have recognised I am very enthusiastic about this book but a book of such depth and detail doesn’t cross my desk very often. An epochal work!
Imagine walking through a charming narrow street filled with character and to be surprised with a random castle out of nowhere. 🏰 Castelvecchio Museum is such a charming place to visit, the best part is there is an amazing playground nearby for the kids. @carryonwithkids @turismoverona #familytravelca #familytravelgoals #familytravelfriends #familytravelers #nodistancetoofar #familytravelideas #carryonwithkids #familytravel #familytravelgram #familytraveler #familytravelbloggers #takethekids #castelvecchio #castelvecchiomuseum #visitverona #beautifulcastle #travelphotography #worldschool #museum https://www.instagram.com/p/B8yxKuelWwN/?igshid=1x8g3v6f6t8uh
