Nearly dying wasn’t exactly on the top of Winnie’s bucket list for the day, in fact if he had any choice in the matter it would be second to last on it, right above actually dying. But life didn’t exactly go according to plan no matter how much he tried to will it to; and he certainly couldn’t have predicted the car that flew through a red light right as he was out for his morning jog. The vehicle probably would have flattened him and turned him into nothing more than skid marks on the tarmac if he hadn’t stumbled backwards and landed flat on his ass in the middle of the cross-walk. He was able to feel the breeze from the car as it zoomed by only a matter of inches away, right where he had just been standing. “Holy shit.” Winnie whispered, small pebbles digging into his scraped palms. “Holy shit.” He repeated, all but shouting it now as his heart hammered away in his chest. “I think I just saw my life flash before my eyes.”
