I'm lucky in that I live in a safe area in a progressive city. I don't often dress up or go out late, and I have the kind of face that occasionally gets me get IDed for paracetamol despite bring nearly 24.
I had almost forgotten how grim it is for a middle aged man to look you up and down and leer right in your face in broad, sunny daylight.
It doesn't make me feel as unsafe as rowdy drunken teenagers catcalling in the dark, or being cornered with my girlfriend on the highstreet by slurring men on their stag do, or being spat at in the street on holiday for a t-shirt bearing my sexuality.
It makes me uneasy in a different way. It makes me second guess people's eyes on me, the bus driver smiling. It reminds me that it doesn't take anything for a stranger to see me as an object. It doesn't take alcohol or cover of darkness. It's not something that happens only in certain places or far away. Here and now there are people who do not see me as a person, do not see me as an equal.
And in some ways, that is worse.
unlike those slobber-snouted guys you call "dogs", cats sweat from the paws. on hot days, smooth floors can be slippery, so you should really reward your cat for being bothered to walk around
Kind of thinking abt making a writeblr if only to have a void to yell my ideas down and also stop cluttering my feed w story-thought related reblogs.
dunno though.
Story idea I just dreamed about:
Person A’s mom just got her hours cut back from work, so they have to take another job in addition to their coffee/souvenirs gift shop job. The only other place in town to make good money is a biker bar which is a rival competitor (for some reason). So Person A goes and works at the bar at night right after their shift at the coffee place ends and has to do a complete wardrobe change from pastels to black. Every. Single. Day.
This bar is also where they meet Person B, a biker rider, leather wearer, and maybe even a little tattoo getter. They gain crushes on each other, but everyone in the bar always rips on the coffee place down the road for how cutsie it always looks. Person A never wants to express their feelings because they think Person B would look down on them for working at both places.
Hijinks involving close calls and pressuring friends ascew until the two get together by Person A getting caught changing, black shirt on but coffee stained pants on the way off, behind the bar before work one day and Person B finally kisses them. Everyone is finally happy the UST finally resolves.
make sure you give your cat fresh cold water. running water works too
strangers always think I'm rubbing my face on them bc I like them, but I really just want to make sure I leave my scent on them so that everyone knows that they are my territory now
although it is nice that they get excited, oblivious to the fact that they have been marked
I think it'd be really cool to get a tattoo. Either something big and extravagant on my back, or something small and simplistic on my hand or arm. I just... I dunno. The aesthetic aspect appeals to me, I s'pose. Watching a piece of artwork move as you do is a fascinating thing in my opinion. But then, there's the medical side of it. I've heard it can be bad for your body. I don't know exactly how. Haven't done my research. I've just heard things. And it's not like my folks would ever approve of me getting a tattoo. But I can dream. And I know the whole "Christians don't get tattoos because of this and that in Scripture", and I completely agree with all that. I just think tattoos are awesome. On the right people. On a person who takes care of their physical health (for the most part), a tattoo looks really nice. And even on heavier or skinnier people, they can look pretty boss, as well. I'll stop before I have to put this under a read-more.
