#cat world problems

I am once again trying to develop a writing/journaling ‘morning pages’ practice/habit. I’m doing okay.

Then the cat figured out my new schedule so the fragile new habit had to withstand the attention of a cat who MUST be on my lap for about 5 minutes but then MUST sit next to/on my notebook for five minutes, repeat as needed.

The silver lining here is that said cat’s mortal enemy is horizontal writing implements. If I’m holding the pen it’s okay but if I put it down that activates Attack Mode. So for as long as the cat is present, I cannot put the pen down. Very motivational.

The cat stuck his face in my water glass and drank a bunch then IMMEDIATELY got in my lap and fell asleep so now I’m trapped here thirsty with a glass of water I can’t drink.

I feel like I'm not gonna get to enjoy DA4 until my cat is like, 2, simply because she hates it!

She hates the noise from my fanwhen I turn on Turbo Mode for my laptop to stop it melting. She hates that my attention is not on her.

If I set up Cat TV or Cat Music I can sometimes get half an hour of play before she comes to sit on my hands and complain, but that's hardly any time to progress the story, and I can't get swept away by the story or any romance when it's very clear that I'm pissing off my cat, and she's only gonna put up with it so long.

Yeah, I could shut her out the room, but she is a pretty needy cat, and she doesn't like that either. So between the flashing lights and low spoons and finding a moment when the cat's asleep in her radiator bed and miiight not wake up with the fan, it's very difficult to find the right moment to play, and even then I only get about half an hour before I am loudly told off.

My hope is that some time between age 1 and 2 she chills out generally and lets me gave a bit more alone time, but she doesn't turn 1 until the end of Feb.

Literally just sat down to put my shoes on and the cat jumped in my lap. I told her I had to go and push her off. She jumps down meows and shakes her head at me... The sass around here is out of control. Why do I feel like this was a Meredith Grey moment? taylorswift I am sure you understand

When it is hours past your bedtime, so you start closing down programs... and your cat chooses that moment to come sleep on your hands.

When your cat ignores you for hours...and then comes to sit in your lap at the exact moment that you begin writing. Because apparently your cat vehemently does not want you to be an author, for some reason.

When your partner tries to leave for work in the morning, your cat throws himself at the door, meowing pitifully, in an attempt to stop the madness that is employment income.

The cat crisis has come to a peaceful resolution! The arm cat has now woken up and is now scampering around the apartment! The leg cat has also gone, probably for food or the litter box or something. 'Twas a resounding success!
