Fuming is a process that produces a very unique floor. It is very difficult to achieve a similar finish with a stain or color oil for example. Cathedral Floors can be fumed in a wide range of widths and grades giving the customer a huge choice when it comes to making that all important decision.

At Cathedral Flooring we can use ammonia fuming to change the color of our floors. Many species of wood contain a substance called tannin and the ammonia fumes react with this. The fumes penetrate into the wood and bring out different shades of color. The more tannin, the better the wood will fume. The length of time that the wood is fumed, the temperature inside the room and the percentage of ammonia used can all change the final finished colour.
