Filming has started in Australia for new series Return to Paradise. Locations include Sydney and the Illawarra coastal region, with six episodes being made for what I assume will merely be series 1 of this Death in Paradise spin-off. Been doing a rewatch of the Australian police drama, Water Rats (c. 1996-2001) on Amazon Prime Video. Last I watched was probably 20 yrs ago when it showed up on a Canadian tv channel. Senior Sergeant Helen Blakemore (above left, Toni Scanlan) was a canon lesbian character, alas without much of a love life. Detective Rachel Goldstein (above right, Catherine McClements, “Wentworth”, “The Time of Our Lives”) had dismal track records with men (and questionable taste).
Water Rats missed out not pairing these two together on a romantic basis. Chemistry was brilliant. And as it was 20 yrs ago, there’s not much fanfic out there for them. And yes, I’ve had crushes on these characters for 20 yrs.
