Just finished the episode Cathexis with my mom (it’s her first time watching voyager) and we get to the part at the end when the EMH is reviving Chakotay and Janeway puts her hands on his bare shoulder.

My mom says as Chakotay: “Ma’am your hands are on my breast!?”

ofc i’m cackling on the couch at this point as she continues, then Janeway leans closer to Chakotay;

My mom: “What is she gonna do kiss him?”

And that just felt important to share, thanks for coming to my Ted talk, I can’t wait to see her reaction to other iconic J/C moments, might keep yall updated on that…

You know what I'm going to put the german episode name and summary here instead of a poll:

"Chakotay droht nach der Begegnung mit einem schwarzen Nebel an Hirntod zu sterben." (Chakotay is in danger of dying of brain death after encountering a black nebula)

A weird nebula again? Star Trek make a season of any show without a weird nebula, mission impossible.

It's interesting that she chooses the role of a servant when she could be literally anything. That's one way to take a break from captaining, taking orders from someone else. Like those CEOs who go see a dominatrix after work.

I love the fun "futuristic" shiny medbay clothes Chakotay is wearing. Or is it just a blanket? Let's focus on that instead of the medicine wheel...

She knows exactly which visual relay in sickbay will show her the wall the wheel is on? She really does know that ship better than anyone else, she didn't even have to think for 1 second. There's at least 16!!

What have they learned that lets the Doctor revive Chakotay suddenly?? Just the knowledge that the aliens were possessing people? Ok random techno babble apparently 👍 don't worry about it

btw Memory Alpha says that in german the episode isn't called Bewusstseinsverlust, but Bewußtseinsverlust, which would be the spelling from before 1996. However the episode came out in 1996 in germany, but in 1995 in the US, so it's unclear what the intended spelling actually was, as the title is always spelled in uppercase on screen, and the uppercase ß was only implemented in 2017, so instead it would have been spelled as ss!

At least I'm saying it's unclear what the intended spelling was, maybe whoever put it on Memory Alpha actually has proof that it was spelled with an ß. I just thought it was interesting!

ah ok yes apparently on the vhs it was spelled with an ß. Either they just didn't care or know about the new spelling, or made all of it in 1995 already when the episodes came out in english and didn't feel like / remember to change it later.

So every other website is lying when they say it's called Bewusstseinsverlust? 🤔
