The Keepers (netflix 2017) is such a visceral, traumatizing documentary that i can’t listen to the theme music without crying, even after all these years. So if that isn’t the highest review I can give I don’t know what to tell ya

What if it was Sister Russell?
So,
I finally made up my mind to watch “The Keepers” on Netflix and I’m only quarter way through...
But, I can’t seem to understand why Joseph Maskell would take Jean to Sister Cathy Cesnik’s body. They state he’s intelligent and I can’t quite understand why an intelligent person would risk getting caught by doing that?
WARNING: Spoilers ahead for those who haven't watched The Keepers.
I just finished watching The Keepers on Netflix. The reviews were right. You have to be prepared to be pissed if you want to watch it. Why? Because right after watching the series, I was VERY pissed and disappointed at the Catholic church.
They knew that they have a priest who is mentally sick, yet they covered up his tracks and just transferred him to another institution. Guess what? That sick priest still continued his sick and evil ways. Fuck that. I hope he's in hell, atoning for his crimes.
I don't understand why the Catholich church defends their priests like how they defended Maskell. Are they hiding the fact that they're involved in the Pedophile Ring? Is that why they're always covering their tracks and just transfer them to another place? Because they're making it obvious. I just simply don't understand why they defend their some of their priests who are clearly sex offenders.
The series just made me realize how powerful the church is when it comes to money. I'm not surprised that they offered something to the first victim of Maskell. They tried to shut him up at the time that Jane Doe and Jane Roe filed a case against the Catholic Church. The last episode really got me fuming from anger. They tried everything just to cover their tracks and they even lied about the offer that they gave to the first victim before Maskell was transferred to Keough.
I am born and raised a Catholic. But after watching the series, I am slowly losing faith in the people who represent God.
Ryan White’s Netflix documentary The Keepers is so beautifully well made and executed, but I can’t help but want Buzzfeed Unsolved to voice their opinions on the case as well
Wow.... just wow.
i’m currently watching an amazing true crime series on netflix called ‘The Keepers’ about the murder of Sister Cathy Cesnik in Baltimore in 1969, i would absolutely recommend it if that’s your kind of thing. it goes so in-depth about the unsolved case and features those who attended the school that she taught at. it’s a really fascinating series !
trigger warning for : rape, sexual abuse, child abuse, death and suicide.
Cathy Cesnik was a Catholic religious sister who taught drama and English at an all-girls high school in Baltimore, Maryland. On November 7, 1969, Cathy left her apartment to run some errands. At 4:40 AM the next morning, her car was discovered covered in mud and illegally parked across from her apartment complex. But there was no sign of Cathy in or anywhere near the car. Police searched everywhere for her, but they were unable to find any trace or clue as to where Cathy might have disappeared off to. Until two months later. In January 1970, a hunter and his son found a woman’s decomposing body in a landfill. The body was confirmed to be that of Cathy Cesnik. The autopsy revealed she had died from an intracerebral hemorrhage after being hit in the left temple by a blunt instrument, which had fractured her skull as a result. Maggots were discovered inside her mouth and trachea as well. Years after the discovery of her body, many dark secrets began to emerge when a few women came forward claiming they were sexually abused by Father Joseph Maskell, one of the priests who worked at the school. Soon, Cathy allegedly found out about the abuse and tried to protect the girls. The case remains unsolved, but it is widely believed Sister Catherine was killed to keep her mouth shut.
