Listen I understand character development exists (and no one really cares about pre-flashpoint anything anymore). But how did we go from this to current Wonder Woman issue #12.

I have many many many things to say about reboot Owen Mercer. They took his swag away and completely altered that man's entire motivation as a character. I think him being a tech guy is an interesting take but also his personality is just completely different in a way that feels like they took his name and some of his defining features and went "no this is Owen Mercer don't worry guys". It's kinda unsettling to be honest.

Like I really want Owen to show up in current Flash but I'm *terrified* that instead of my "I think my dad reserves respect even though he's a bad guy. Also, I'm on my own hero's journey to discover who I am and I think I wanna help save people as Captain Boomerang" complex man I'll be stuck with "god my dad is such a loser and I hate him. He should die." This is also coming from someone who personally believes Owen was fumbled since his first appearance because I truly think he should be the more popular Captain Boomerang just because I think he's a much more compelling character than Digger. That's just me though. The concept of him being Meloni Thawne's son. Bart's half brother. I do also consider him Barry's half grandson. Like why wasn't that expanded on?! Bart and Owen's only connection to their mom so far in the future being each other. How insane it would make the Flash Family when Owen shows up to family dinner because he's technically a Thawne. Sometime before flashpoint Owen "lost" his super speed but I don't like that decision, especially since we never got closure as to *how* he lost his super speed.

At the end of the day, I just miss Owen. I miss all the legacies honestly and I'm hoping we can one day have a version of Owen that actually looks like him.

Read one of the blandest takes researching for my thesis today and no you all are subject to hearing about it too. "Judd Winnick gave Mia Dearden HIV to make a statement" (This was said in support of some iffy statements following an interview Chuck Dixon did back in 2007). Well, pardon me, but no shit, Sherlock. Winnick's Green Arrow is explicitly designed to make a statement. Mia Dearden is an underage sex worker who got raped by her father when she was 9 years old. She ran away from him and sold her body to older men and took drugs to survive on the streets. She was lured in by another man who promised her food and shelter in exchange for selling her body and that's all she knew how to do (also, technically this wasn't even Winnick. This was Kevin Smith). Mia getting diagnosed with HIV is probably the most accurate next step for her development. Her entire existence was to humanize people with HIV and AIDS. Winnick wanted people to start to villainize the illness not the actually people, which the media was doing at the time. The arc itself is absolutely gorgeous and heartbreaking at the same time. The concept of such a heavy topic actually being handled with dignity and grace is astonishing, especially for the polarizing world of the comics industry. I will forever be a Mia Dearden and Winnick Green Arrow defender until I die. Just say you don't understand, but don't talk to my daughter ever again.

Listen I know it just makes more sense to have all the Rogues together in prison. I understand, but my brain says no. Because why is Lisa here? Shouldn't she be in the women's sector of the prison? I am well aware this is a nothing burger complaint from me. She is serving as she usually does, but it's something that has irked me since I've read Williamson's Flash. This is also coming from someone who genuinely enjoys Rogues Reloaded. That's my useless Catie Rant of the day lol.

Best thing Williamson did is break up Sam and Lisa. I pray that is still canon.

I knew I was right picking up Batman: Zero Year as my first Batman book. Scott Snyder never misses. Researching for my thesis helps me understand WHY I gravitate towards certain writers. I'm glad Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV don't have some weird beef against legacy characters. Makes me terrified for the Hush sequel we're getting. Hopefully nothing bad happens and we don't lose Cassandra Cain AGAIN

I just finished Broken Age and I have so many questions that weren’t answered. Why did Shay literally never see his parents in person?? Why did he forget that they were real people? What’s up with their society?? Why did the lorunians look so weird?? What was honestly with the whole Mog Chothra thing honestly that explanation was weak. What happens next???? Honestly the beginning was great and and creative and the story was told so well but then in the second act, the puzzles became illogically impossible, and the story was rushed and lame and I am so mad.

In the past, I haven’t really been one to keep records of PRs and stuff like that, so I guess that’s why I’m joining the runblr community-- maybe someone out there can keep me accountable for my sucky nutrition and long time running plateau (that I might finally be breaking out of ?!).
