Frank, I don't know if your full name is Francis, but I named my oak tree sapling Francis with you in mind
Here's a picture
Oh hey, thanks!!
Fine idea. Here is a picture of my sister's dog to accompany it:
(Sorry I'm not in the picture, my sister couldn't get close enough to snap a photo)
BM ask game: Lily and Snape

Thoughts on Romeo and Juliet?
so... i read Rom&Jul back in 8th grade for school and have never read it again since lol. At the time I hated it. I really hated romeo especially and wrote my final exam question on how he was emo and dumb and his bad choices ruined everything lmao. i think it was hard for me to conceptualize him as young??
I haven’t read or watched a production again (unless you count West Side Story lmao) but I think I would really enjoy it now. I’m already way more sympathetic than i was at 13
Damon and Elena for the Trad OTP meme. (or, if someone else already asked that, Gen and Irene)
Who grew up in a trad family and who became a trad in spite of their lib/normie family
They’re both converts from secularism/atheism, and Damon is initially more suspicious of the whole religious enterprise, but ends up being the first and hardest-fallen for traditionalism.
Who wants lace on surplices and who wants pleats
Damon likes pleats!! For some reason I feel very strongly about this. He ends up with a very monastic vibe - plain, but impressive and solemn.
Who likes baroque choral arrangements and who prefers chant
Elena loves baroque but Damon, though initially impatient with both, eventually emphatically rejects baroque and insists that only chant is truly the right choice for Mass. He searches all over for a TLM where the choir chooses chant as the default, over polyphonic pieces. Elena, just glad he’s finally a convert too, lets him have his way.
Which one went through a “women shouldn’t wear pants” phase
Damon. Long-buried norms from his human life reared up in conjunction with his passionately-held religious convictions and he let some Opinions fly. They argued for months. Eventually, in the face of historical Vatican pronouncements and arguments from history and function, he dares her to go Full Trad for a while. She spends three months wearing only skirts and at the end, without a word to him, quietly rearranges her wardrobe - and his. She still wears pants for gardening and hiking; she fills his closet with more formal, old-fashioned clothing. In a fit of mature husbandship, he acquiesces without a word.
Which NFP method they will use
N o n e. Providentialists. Elena does discover she loves breastfeeding and for her it does help with spacing.
Who wants to name all the kids after doctors of the church and who wants to use family names
Elena - family names; Damon - doctors. They narrowly avoid 3 and 4 names for their kids.
Who argues with other trads on twitter and who just posts trad memes
Elena - aesthetics and memes. Damon eschews technology but will read over Elena’s shoulder on the off chance she’s looking at an argument and argue with straw men. She endures this with amusement and patience... most of the time.
Who was most excited for pre-55 Holy Week
Both of them!
Who discerned out of religious life
As converts, already together at conversion, neither.
Who is more sympathetic to the SSPX
Elena, surprisingly; Damon, once he embraced the concepts of legitimate authority and hierarchy, tends to have a rather rigid view. But Elena talks him around after reviewing the official Vatican statements... in part by goading him about being emotional instead of rational.
Who eats meat on Friday solemnities and who keeps to the fast
Damon has a tendency to hesitate but Elena is so enthusiastic he can’t help but be on board.
And of course, who insists on driving the extra 30 minutes to the TLM parish and who is fine with the reverent novus ordo nearby
Damon insists!! The longer she lets him have his way, the more she comes to agree with him, but she can’t quite get rid of that lingering emotional attachment to her local parish.
You probably didn't see my reply to that Cinderella gifset since it was a reblog, but I was also unsure about the "I am Cinderella" thing. However, I've come around to reading it as a more metatextual reclaiming of the name. This movie is one of the most psychologically in-depth adaptations of a story whose main character has been heavily criticized as weak, one-dimensional, naive, and misogynistic. 1/2
2/2 By having this version of Ella, who is clearly none of those things, claim the title of Cinderella, the movie vindicates the entire story tradition. She's not a "new and improved" fairy tale princess, she /is/ Cinderella. (IDK if this influenced the filmmakers, but it also makes an interesting contrast with the novel Just Ella, which aggressively deconstructs the story.)
