LWhile reading fanfics about different ships of Vicente Benítez, I realized one thing. He's portrayed as something so tender and fragile that he always needs protecting. Not to mention that they even depict him as never having touched a weapon. (And I'm not talking about all the fics that appear under Vicente's tag. On the contrary, I've read some fics that honestly seem to have been taken directly from Harris's novel. I mean, they're spectacular.) Or even in TikTok edits and fan art, according to the fanon, he is a tender, adorable, charismatic person, incapable of killing a fly, sensitive. He has no authority, and Lawrence is the one who always defends him from mistreatment.

YIn this matter, the fanon canon is very far removed. Furthermore, it shouldn't completely erase the personality that represents Benítez, because something must be taken into account:

• He was born in Latin America, he's from Mexico. In Argentine terms, he's got more street smarts than the entire Vatican combined. And if he wanted, he could easily give Goffredo a good punch in the movie.

• He lived and served in one of the most dangerous countries in Africa. He faced the Taliban, knows how to use weapons, and if it comes to it, he's not afraid to fight. He defended his church, he was almost killed, he created help centers for women, he did not live off the wealth of the Vatican.

• Despite being a hermaphrodite, that was not an excuse to continue on the path of religion. And despite being so, she did not let herself be trampled on or feel inferior.

• He stood before the cardinals and told them some hard truths. (And let's be honest, what can they possibly know about war if they've never lived through one? Besides, for Tedesco, Why start a war if he's not even going to fight in it, he'll just hide)

• Despite having lived through and witnessed immoral human acts that would corrupt anyone's mind, he chose to fight against it, remaining a calm, serene, and understanding person. But this doesn't mean he's a weak person; on the contrary, he's a person with a very strong mind and character.It's tough facing all those scenarios, seeing people die, being of a different gender. He is a person to admire.

• I would like to see fanfics written that showcase his personality; he would even make the most seasoned cardinals tremble.

• Anyone who has links or fanfics that cover these Vicent topics, I'll read them all.
