So I write this SPOP drabble series called “Snapshots of Recovery” that is post canon, canon compliant, and, well, short. Like, really short. Like, we’re 12 in and it’s 1200 words because, you know, drabbles.
But you should totally read it! And subscribe to it so that every week when I manage to heroically type another hundred words of that sweet sweet catradora angst or catrauma or occasionally even fluff, you will be notified.
I have a secret goal for when this series is “finished”, and we have not even begun to approach it yet. So, here’s a link:

I promise you two things:
1. Whatever happens, Catra and Adora are going to win in the end. I’m not a monster.
2. You will, at some point, wonder if I’m lying about number 1.
3. This is a series of drabbles. I am not even kidding. 100 words a week. No more. No less. 101 if you count the title. Maybe 200-300 with notes. But 100 words in the middle where the story goes.

Series: Part 1 of Catran
Summary:
Catran lives in a cruel world of abuse, neglect, and violence. As a child in the Horde, he is expected to grow up to kill and destroy, efficiently and without mercy, and he has learned those lessons well. He's also learned that even the people who are supposed to be on his side can't be trusted. The adult who raised him tortured him with her magic, the team he grows up with don't respect him. In the brutal world of the Horde, Catran grows up without friends or protection. Every day is a fight.
The only bright spot in his life is Adora, his lifelong companion. She's the only person he's ever trusted, the only person who seems to care.
On top of that, Catran hasn't been feeling all that comfortable in his body, lately. It has its advantages, sure, but sometimes... sometimes it just doesn't fit. And there isn't a single person he can talk to about that. Even Adora might not understand.
When Adora leaves the Horde and joins the enemy, Catran's entire world collapses. But he's been fighting his entire life. He isn't going to give up now.
(It's She-Ra Season One told from the POV of non-binary Catra.)

Chapter Three. I think this is the first chapter where we start to get into Catran’s body dysmorphia. We don’t go very far, but we’ll touch on it.
It took a long time for things to sort of click for me, and it’s going to take a while for things to click for Catran as well. He has thoughts and feelings he simply doesn’t understand, and he’s going to have to figure some of that out over a fair amount of time.

So the last time I posted this it still said “Chapter 1″ in the heading so I’m posting it again. Because this is Chapter 2.
In which we get a little more childhood trauma because Catran’s childhood was bleak and awful in every conceivable way.
