Ouch - How Can I Stop My Cat Biting?
Today I am going to post a few videos on training and helping your cat not to BITE! There are a number of reasons why a cat might bite, and most of these in a domestic situation relate to play fighting. There are things you can do to discourage this, and each of the videos below and over the page will give you a particular perspective on it.
The first thing though, is not to play with your cat, using your hands. Watch the first video on the next page to get excellent information on this.

One of the terms you’ll hear in this first video from Training Consultant Mikkel Becker is ”bite inhibition”, which a cat learns from his or her litter-mates. Play-fighting with kitten siblings is a great way for your cat to learn the difference between serious and play biting; and what is appropriate for a play situation.

If you have a young cat that gets aggressive when you play, you are among friends! It’s common. Board-certified veterinary behaviorist Dr. E’Lise Christensen, DVM in this Howcast video says:
When you think about it, it’s no wonder that they do because, most of us are actually taught to play with cats in a way that will cause them to scratch and bite you, and in fact ,we roughhouse with kittens all the time. Unfortunately, when you roughhouse with a kitten with your hands or your feet. You are really teaching that cat to go ahead and target predatory play towards your fingers and toes, and that’s pretty much the last thing that people want on a regular basis. So, it’s so important that when you are going to teach your cat about how to play people that you play with remote toys. So that they’re more interested in playing with objects rather than your hands.
Does your cat already have a biting habit? There are some things you can do to help, and this video shows you how…
