How To Introduce Two Cats And Make Them Like Each Other!
Do you love cats? Obviously you do! Let me ask you this question. What is better than having a cat at your home? The answer is TWO CATs.
Yes, two cats are always better than one and the more, the better. Now, there is a problem though. It is not always an easy task to introduce two or more cats with each other for the first time. Cats are sensitive and weird. If you don’t know how to introduce cats to each other, you may ruin their friendship possibility for life. Obviously, you do not want to do that and therefore, you need to be strategic.
This guide is all about that. After you finish reading this article, you will probably not be having any issues with introducing two or more cats in future.
You have to first understand that cats do not really hate each other. As they are super territorial, they might look like hating each other at the beginning but that is not the actual case. But as there is that initial misunderstanding, you cannot just toss two cats and hope that they will be friends. It is very important that you take time in introducing them. That will bring the best result.
The best strategy to make sure that two cats are friends with each other is by introducing them with one sense at a time. We at Meowtee did our research and the result is simple. If you can go one sense at a time, you will not really have much issues. So what is the first step?
Sense Method
You can start with the smelling sense at the beginning. Keep the cats separated in two boxes and let them only smell each other’s appearance. Cats are always alert and you don’t really need to do anything special to make this happen. If you don’t really have the time to take it one sense at a time, the second best method is to keep two cats on both sides of a closed door with vacant space at the bottom.
Good To Meet You… I Think?
Do you have that type of door in your home where there is a space at the bottom of the door? Yes, keep two cats on different sides of the door and let them touch and feel each other from that vacant area. They might fight a little at the beginning but don’t worry. Obviously, they cannot get close enough to fight and harm each other. Let them be that way for at least a few hours.
After that, simply open the door and closely monitor their reactions. If you see that they are still angry at each other for some reason, you need to close the door and wait even more. Don’t worry if it takes more than a day. Different cats react differently for obvious reasons. Take your time and you will surely make it.

Now We’re BFFF!
Sock Training
The next method to go about is the safest of all. It is known as the sock training. Sock training was invented by a group of cat parents who were ready to take things slow. The strategy is simple. Pick one of your socks and rub it against the new comer cat. Now take this sock and let your already existing cat smell and feel it. Do this a couple of times. Now do the opposite with another sock. This time, the new comer will smell and feel the sock.
Now simply make these two cats meet each other. You will see that they are already friends. This is a time consuming method but the easiest among all for sure.
Play & Play
The next strategy is to play with the cats for long enough to make them friends. This happens with human beings too, right? The method is exactly similar. Pick a toy that is most fun to both of your cats. Make sure that they don’t start hating each other because if you pick something like a fishing rod, there is a high chance that one cat will not have enough opportunities to play. So be careful and pick something nice.
Then play with your cats for long enough. There is no reason that why they won’t be friends after that.
Feeding
Another simple yet effective method to make your cats like each other is via feeding them in one bowl. Everything comes down to food at the end of the day. When your cats will find out that there is always enough food for both of them and they can actually share food and still there’s plenty, they will very quickly start liking each other.
Don’t try too hard too soon. Cats are friendly and fun in general. They don’t really hate each other but because of their territorial nature, it becomes tough at times to accept something new. Try to understand that and play along. You will surely see your cats are friends with each other in no time!
