also, on cats, so many people don't really know how to play with cats or engage them in a stimulating way.

generally the more you use the toy like a small prey animal trying to hide (or a wounded bird attempting to fly away if it's feathery etc), the more engaged they get in play. i've had friends with cats who say the cat doesn't know how to play, they're old and disinterested in all the toys etc. but then i'm with the cat for a day and the cat plays loads with me and all i need is a string and a rug to slowly hide it under
