Okay I hate the belief that people of trade based jobs don't know anything about science fields or stuff. For example, my dad's a cattle rancher. He grows wheat and corn each year, and grows some filler crops along with it (usually Rye is a good cover crop). Most people just think raising cattle is a bunch of muck, tractors, and puttin' eartags on a crazy cow.
But my dad (and every other farmer) has to know a TON about pH, certain soil compositions, plant details and what they do, optimal moisture levels for things like fermentation for hay and silage, etc. There's a whole lot of chemistry in there.
I don't usually see it with Gen Z, but I know that a lot of the boomer generation and such, especially those with jobs like scientists, doctors, nurses, professors, lawyers, etc. tend to look down upon trade workers. But that's just dumb. Just because you know how to place an IV doesn't make you smarter. And just because you don't know how to fix a tractor or pull a calf doesn't make you dumb. It's just different types of smart.
I think it'd be nice if we gained back a sense of mutual respect, for many reasons.

38-39/100 days of studying 📚
The past few days have been slower than usual but I've managed to study the first chapter of cattle farming and so far it's very interesting; I believe it's one of the best classes of the entire course, not gonna lie
please help a student out!
hi everyone, I’m currently doing a research project on the agricultural industry/farming and i DESPERATELY need some people to answer my survey! It’s totally anonymous and the results are only going to be used in my A level coursework. There’s only six questions!
I really really need some responses to this as soon as I can get them so if people are able to do this if you yourself have experience in agriculture or know someone in agriculture then please share this around if you can!
I hope tumblr does its thing and makes this work! You’ll be helping me get a qualification if you do it!
Edit- Hopefully this link works: Recycling in agriculture – Fill in form
So Maryland just became home to the first U.S. human case of flesh-eating screwworm in decades. Yeah, that’s right. Worms. That eat flesh. Not in a horror novel—just your regular Tuesday.
Don’t worry though, the patient is fine. Totally recovered. No outbreak. Nothing to see here. Except, you know, the part where this parasite literally burrows into living tissue. But hey, fun fact, it doesn’t like dead flesh—only the good stuff. Yum.
The government’s response? Oh, just casually building a $750 MILLION bug factory in Texas to mass-produce 300 million sterile flies a week. Because the only way to fight flesh-eating bugs… is with more bugs.
It’s giving “sci-fi apocalypse prequel.” Today it’s sterilized flies, tomorrow it’s “oops, some weren’t sterile” and now we’ve got Super Worms™.
Meanwhile, ranchers are furious they weren’t told sooner, since this little pest could cost the cattle industry billions. But hey—at least the press release assures us there’s “no public risk.” Totally reassuring when a parasite literally called SCREWWORM shows up in your state.

Sometimes writers reveal they know nothing about an industry in the funniest way possible. Like in Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders the villains proclaim they're supplementing the income from their illegal mining operation by selling off the cows they stole from the locals as part of their ruse.
But like selling a cow is a whole fucking thing. That creature's almost certainly branded or tagged. You know these nerds aren't sitting at a cattle auction or filling out the paperwork.
Do they know a guy who will look the other way and slaughter them on the down low? Is there a local farmer's market or health food store unknowingly buying fenced beef? Is it an fda approved slaughter house?
The mining gold illegally from government lands is the least of their crimes here. There is absolutely another person involved in this operation. I need answers.
