My birthday was nearly a week ago on the 13th, and I only just got back from my vacation yesterday. I'm only just now finding time to respond to everyone's lovely messages - I'm so sorry it took so long! - and I just wanted to say thank you so, SO MUCH for all the wonderful birthday wishes!! I had the birthday week of a lifetime at Disney World, though I can't say I'm not glad to be back home.

My queue should be back up to normal soon, and I hope to get back to daily BPC posts both here and Instagram too! 💖💖

Shatter Me series

I’m gonna be super honest with you: I read the first few chapters of Shatter Me and never picked the book back up. I’m honestly not sure why, and I feel like if I had stuck it out a little longer I would have liked it! Maybe I’ll try again now that Tahereh is adding to the series.

There are gay couples in the TOG series.

there are two that i’m aware of, and both are either briefly mentioned or in the background, and their relationship doesn’t contribute to the plot, while heteronormative m/f mate relationships get all the focus. additionally, manon’s grandmother is mentioned in passing to have had a female lover (so briefly that i didn’t notice) but she is a major villain in eos, and that is not representation, it only demonizes wlw and portrays the relationship as purely sexual. finally, aedion is bisexual, which i will admit made me very happy, but he only says this in comparison to lysandra’s past of prostitution, which subtly (or not-so-subtly, depending who you ask) contributes to the stereotype of “slutty” bi people.

i truly don’t mean to be rude, but i thought i’d point out what i meant and how it is halfhearted and not a good example of representation
