Australians Supporting Irrigation in Cambodia Meet Ouk Keourn, a young rice farmer with a small plot of land in rural Cambodia. Before the Australian Government helped build an irrigation canal in her area, she could only grow crops once a year: during the rainy season. With the irrigation canal in place, she can now grow crops in two seasons, nearly doubling her yield. For over a decade, the Australian Government, through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), has worked to improve the lives of rural Cambodians. The Cambodia Agricultural Value Chain Program (CAVAC) supports poverty reduction through long term agricultural growth.
