Appreciation post for my baby boy, Bunsen. He’s not a trained service dog but he always alerts me to when I’m having an endo ep or if my mum is having a diabetic low.
Earlier this week my mum was out in the garden with the line trimmer he usually stays far far away from because the noise scares him and this clever boy kept barking and jumping up at her until she went to get some sugar and called my dad. In the past she’s woken up in the middle of the night to him nudging at her side incessantly.
Yesterday I got home from work after ignoring some minor cramps throughout the day to him following me everywhere and nosing at my abdomen persistently (he can smell the chemical changes). He did the same thing before I was hospitalised last time.
Lo and behold I am now bloated in fetal position, doped up on Endone but at least I was prepared with my pain meds and water bottle and I wasn’t so terrified by the sudden onset of the P A I N and at least I can now string a coherent sentence together. He’s been laying across my legs all morning.
Oh and LET’S NOT FORGET the night my dad got his arm stuck in the hood of his car because he decided working on it at 11pm at night was a good idea and this dog (and his brother, Beaker who is also good) kept barking to tell us dad was stuck and we had to call the paramedics who told us he would have lost circulation if we’d left him too long 🙃
10000/10 goodest doggo. Would die for him.
What DID WE DO TO DESERVE DOGs? Honestly I just 😭😭😭 he’s just so loving and precious and he PROTEC
