Something else I forgot to mention that I think Terra should of definitely of been a party member during the final set of Xehanort fights because of how much shit he went through, (body and heart stolen, soul/will/nobody is the suit of armor, heartless it the guardian/meat-shield and forced to work for Xehanort). Should of at least punched him in the face in the final cutscene. But ya like you said, it was too bloated and everything was rushed in the end.
Yeah :/ Every character deserved more. For fuck’s sake though, the villains got more screen time and good moments than the heroes. Xehanort redemption? Saix redemption? Lea and Isa suddenly having a friend to FORM A TRIO??
Nomura butchered KH3 for whatever he has planned for the future. Probably versus 2.0. And I will never forgive him that. Yes, the game is still fun to play and arguably one of the best Kingdom Hearts games if you ignore the entire story. But I also play it for the story, or rather, to see how the characters grow within the story.
But they didn’t grow. They are all static. They’ve undone some of the past character development, especially for Kairi. Where’s my spunky girl? The girl who jumps into a horde of heartless to protect Sora? All without a Keyblade? Again, I appreciate how Sora mirrored this moment, but it is worth so little when Kairi never gets to show her potential at all. She didn’t even get warm during her fight before she was taken a hostage yet again.
And while Sora was finally his KH2 self again, there was still a vital part of his missing - yes, I’m a Sokai shipper, maybe I’m biased, but KH2 Sora thought of Kairi. Imagined her by his side, got teased about her by Donald and Goofy. They dropped this completely. That is why KH2 will stay my fave in terms of story even if the Disney worlds are comparably worse than KH3.
Can’t have it all it seems.
