notes: Have fun with this Cazriel fic that I've been hoarding for 3 months HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
warnings: little bit of angst
It’s always hard being away from your Mates. Especially when Rhysand pulls rank as High Lord to send Cassian and Azriel away. Usually you are able to put on a brave face when they leave. This time was harder than most.
This time your mates had been sent to Illyria for 5 weeks. Spending over a month without them is going to be pure torture. You’ve made it two weeks but the bond in your chest has started to ache in a way that makes you want to keel over and scream.
Loneliness plagues you at night when you fall into your large bed made to accommodate your Mates wings. It hurts more when you wake up cold in the morning, missing their warmth and strong arms holding you. Their fading scents on the sheets isn’t enough for you anymore. You want the real thing back, to bury your face in the crook of their necks, to inhale the scent of night and wind on them from flying.
Wiping away a lone tear on your cheek you look around Cassian’s office. You feel so pathetic crying over them. People are away from their Mates all the time, why can you not handle it?
Running your fingers along the chipped edge of Cassian’s old wooden desk the tip of your finger catches on a notch. A sad smile pulls at your lips as you reminisce about the time Azriel got so bored he spaced out and just dragged Truth Teller across the desk as if he were whittling something.
A knock on the door has you composing yourself. Elain makes her way next to you with a tray of something that smells heavenly. “Hi honey, how are you holding up?” She asks gently.
“As well as I can. The bond is a tricky thing.” A heavy sigh escapes from your lips. Elain lets out a small hum that sounds music like. “Yes, it truly is. I ignored the empty feeling for so long with Lucien, now I can’t picture a day without him.” Adjusting the tray to her hip Elain rests a soft hand on your shoulder. “But they’ll be back soon. And I know they miss you just as much.”
You nod solemnly still staring down at the notch.
Elain’s hand slips to yours. “Come, have tea with Gwyn and I.” She pulls you along, a plan already half formed in that cunning mind of hers everyone seems to underestimate.
Her brother-in-law could never say no to her. Nesta said it was something about Elain’s doe eyes and massive guilt. And who was Elain to let that advantage go. Batting her lashes and flashing her big brown doe eyes at Rhysand had him caving to her request in under five minutes.
A throat clearing sound makes you jump, your attention not really on your book, but on your mates and what they were doing. Cassian has been pretty strict with keeping the bond closed while he’s away. He would never forgive himself if you were infected with his anger and you’re so far apart.
Azriel can’t help but let his feelings slip through the cracks, to let you know he is thinking of you and how much he misses you.
“Azriel has been asking about you,” Rhys starts. “I mean, they both have been asking, and I’ve been honest. Cassian is torn about you visiting, Azriel has leapt at the opportunity to have you with them. Would you like me to take you to Illyria for a few days?” You nod excitedly, jumping up from your seat and dashing to your room to pack a bag.
Within minutes Rhys winnows you to the cabin in Windhaven, leaving you to get settled. You wait patiently for one of your Mates to come home, bursting with excitement at the thought of being in their arms.
Azriel arrives first. Shaking the snow from his inky black hair, his shadows take care of the rest. A few of them swarm next to his ears, one even wrapping itself around his wrist pulling him to the bedroom.
“What-” Azriel cuts himself off when his sight lands on you. Those hazel eyes you love so much widening to a comical size as he registers that you are finally in front of him after weeks apart. Before you have a chance to say hello Az is across the room pulling you into a crushing hug, spinning you around.
“You’re here! You’re actually here, in my arms, oh my love!” His words are muffled thanks to his face being buried in the crook of your neck. You feel his lips curl into smile against your skin
“I’m here Az,” you whisper, not believing it yourself. Once he puts you down you tightly wrap your hand around his, pulling him to the sitting room.
Cuddling up on the couch the two of you talk for hours catching up on everything you’ve missed over the last few weeks. Occasionally you tug on the bond that connects you to Cassian to try enticing him to come home soon.
You close your eyes as the sun sets, shining dark purples and orange hues across the sky. By the time Cassian comes home the sun had set completely. His broody mood matching the darkness outside.
“Az,” Cass calls out in his usual booming voice. “Please tell me you made something for dinner. I'm starving.” Azriel quietly rushes to Cassian telling him to lower his voice. Cassian shoots the shadowsinger with a nasty scowl.
“Just…come here,” Azriel grabs Cassian’s hand to show him what should immediately calm him. The sight of you asleep on the couch has him freezing on the threshold of the sitting room. His hand rose to rest over his heart. The reason you had been pulling on the bond became clear.
And he had ignored you. He didn’t even answer you once.
Guilt pulls at him, anger was quick to replace it though. It’s too dangerous for you to be in Windhaven! You are a distraction to them here. He looks to Azriel again, a new angry scowl on his face.
“What were you thinking? Bringing her here when we’ve talked about this?” Azriel’s face drops. “I didn’t,” was all he said in defense.
You stir at the sound of their voices. Az kneels next to you, gently cradling your face in his hands.
“Hi sweetheart, sorry to wake you.” You let out a small yawn before giving Az a tired smile. “It’s alright. Is Cass back yet?”
Azriel looks back at Cassian, his feet still rooted in place on the hardwood floor. “Yeah, he’s back sweetheart.”
You push yourself up and smile at Cassian. You don’t notice his anger as you wrap your arms around his waist and bury your face in his chest. “Missed you,” you murmured. “More than you know.” Cassian’s resolve breaks and he hugs you tightly to his body. “I missed you too sweet pea. More than anyone could miss a person.” You look up at Cassian with a tired smile.
Cassian melts at how perfect you look pressed against him. His thick fingers brush hair back from your face, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “Have you and Az eaten yet?” You shake your head no, looking a little guilty.
Cassian leads you both to the kitchen, pulling out a chair for you at the table. You watch as Azriel and Cass cook together. Mixing ingredients and passing each other for utensils and spices. Soon enough there was a plate with bread, chicken, and vegetables in front of you.
You forgot how wonderful dinner with your mates is. Tears start to well up in your eyes as you watch Az and Cass joke with each other as one of them holds your hand.
Five weeks is far too long to be apart.
Never again, you vow. You’ll never let Rhys separate the three of you for this long again.
He woke the following morning with a pleasant ache below the waist. They had pushed the beds together, sleeping side by side, wings occasionally draping over one another, and limbs tangled and rejigged throughout the night. A feline stretch later that made his back click, Cassian rolled over to drape an arm around the source of heat at his side. Smooth skin greeted him and he smiled into his pillow when a pleasant sigh reached his ears.
“Morning,” was the husky greeting.
Opening his eyes, he saw Azriel peering back through strands of ruffled hair, hazel eyes watching him carefully. He smiled, bringing a hand up to brush the other Illyrian’s dishevelled hair to one side.
“Mornin’,” he whispered, brushing the pad of his thumb along the edge of Azriel’s lips. He propped himself up on one elbow, leaning across the bed to breach the gap between them and planted a reassuring kiss onto warm lips. Always so, so warm.
No one had bothered them during the night. Cassian was sure that someone had to have heard them - that nuisance of a headboard had clattered too loudly - but the door never opened and no one banged on the walls. He still wasn’t sure what had sprung this upon them; Azriel lay almost catatonic and Cassian knew the Illyrian was waiting to be kicked out and hushed. Bringing a hand up to cup his chin, Cassian planted another tender kiss, hoping his actions spoke louder than any words he could come up with. Azriel closed his eyes in response, kissing softly back, and they nestled closer together, eyes closing again.
Good morning, was the dark purr in the back of his head. Cassian’s eyes flew open. There isn’t much better than sex but turkey rashers and toast is close.
In his arms, he felt Azriel stiffen and then murmur that, “Rhysand say’s-”
Oh my, have I got a boner to pick with you two. What a poorly kept secret.
Cassian glowered, tightening his hold around Azriel’s waist. “I heard what he has to say.” Thumping from the bedroom door quietened his colourful reply to the High Lord and instead, he replied, “Wrong room.”
Rhysand’s dark chuckle echoed from outside the door. “I could make a sex joke, you know,” was the jeer and Cassian was relieved when Azriel rolled his eyes. “But I’d hate to sound cocky.”
Cassian grabbed the pillow from beneath his head and flung it at the door. The laugh from outside tempered him and he made to throw another, but Azriel placed a gentle hand on his shoulder and shook his head. “He’ll tire of his jeering and go away. In the meantime… I’d really like to just lay here with you a bit longer.”
Cassian melted into Azriel’s arms, tightening his own hold on the Illyrian and inhaling the scent of Solstice and happiness and Rhysand’s fading voice in the back of his mind that he was happy for them.
A Cazriel fanfic about Az dealing with some nightmares and opening up to Cassian with some chocolate involved.
All the thanks to @dr-woodsprite for reading over it and liking what I wrote. It always means so much to me!
Also, if any of you guys have any ideas for fics you’d like me to write, I wouldn’t mind writing them!

Azriel awoke with a silent gasp and wide eyes. He could feel his heart thundering away and he struggled to take in deep breaths to calm himself down. His hand clenched into a tight fist as he squeezed his eyes shut, trying to ignore the echoes of screams turning into a tornado in his mind. He could hear the screams of the people he had tortured, drawing them out for countless hours. He could hear his own screams of despair on the first night he'd been locked in a room of solitude. He could hear his raw screams of agony on the day his hands had been ignited in flames. They whirled around in his mind, getting louder and louder until he opened his eyes with another gasp.
He took a deep shuddering breath, feeling tears threatening to spill over. He shifted slightly to find a large arm loosely wrapped around his waist. His eyes followed the arm back to the sleeping owner and smiled slightly when they rested on Cassian's peaceful face. His gaze wandered down his chest, taking in all the details of his scars as if he hadn't done it before. His eyes snapped back up after they reached the waistband of his shorts. Azriel still found it hard to believe that Cassian would want someone like him. He wasn't so worthy of man like Cassian, was he? Cassian was a great Commander while Azriel was a monster who hid in the shadows.
Azriel sighed as he used the shadows to lift Cassian's arm to slip out of bed. He put on a pair of shorts before exiting the room and then made his way to the balcony silently, appreciating the calm of the night and let his shadows wrap around him in a comforting embrace. He opened the glass doors of the balcony and stepped forward, sighing at the feel of the wind lightly kissing his face. He walked forward to lightly brace his hands on the railing, trying to focus on the feeling of his shadows wrapped around him and the feeling of an icy breeze brushing by his face, body and wings.
Slowly, his heartbeat took a slower pace and he let go of the railing and stretched, spreading his wings and his arms. He froze in his actions when he heard movement from their bedroom. He heard the creak of the bedroom door and then near silent footsteps that headed for the kitchen. Azriel's wings drooped again and his head hug low as he waited for Cassian.
He heard the doors of the balcony open and a few footsteps until he felt warm fingers brush the back of his neck and wander down his arm. Azriel turned his palm to grasp Cassian's hand in his and didn't move when he heard Cassian growl slightly at him and lightly bite his shoulder. Slowly, the shadows vanished at the other male’s touch until it was just the two of them in the delicate silence of the night.
" Didn't I tell you to wake me up on nights like these?" He asked, a hint of frustration audible in his voice. What was Azriel supposed to say? That he didn't think it was important enough to wake Cassian? That he felt like Cassian would just leave after Azriel woke him up too many times?
" I'm sorry," he murmured in the end. There was a slight grunt from Cassian and then his arm came around to reveal the chocolate in his hand. " Thanks," he said gratefully, plucking the bar of chocolate from his partner's hand and bit off a small piece, feeling Cassian's eyes tracking his every move.
Chocolate was something that helped him cope sometimes. It helped him come back to the present, letting the chocolate's sweet taste wash over the ashy taste of his memories. The chocolate reminded him of his happier moments with his mother and the Inner Circle. After Azriel had explained it to Cassian with a lot of pauses and hesitations, he had gone out the next day and had brought home a crate's worth of chocolate for Azriel. It was to make sure they never ran out, was Cassian's explanation after chuckling at Azriel's shocked expression.
Cassian's gaze on him didn't waver but his hands traveled down Azriel's arms and returned to his neck and then rubbed his back soothingly. Azriel finished off the last bite and he felt Cassian's lips latch onto his neck, pressing soft kisses from his shoulder and up his neck. Azriel shifted slightly, baring his neck more and Cassian pressed firm hands on his hips to hold Azriel in place. Cassian's thumbs moved in soothing circles at his hips and Azriel sighed, closing his eyes. Cassian paused in his actions, pressing one final kiss to his neck and then leaned his head forward to rest beside Azriel’s.
" What are you thinking?" Cassian asked after a few minutes of silence. Azriel hesitated and froze slightly. Cassian's thumbs instantly resumed their circular motions in an attempt to soothe him.
" Do you want the honest answer or the answer that I'd prefer to say?" He asked quietly, firmly staring ahead.
" Honest," Cassian replied immediately. " Always honest." Azriel took a deep breath, trying to form the thoughts in his head into coherent words.
" I'm...I'm not good enough for you, Cass. You shouldn't be with someone like me," he said in a quiet voice and tensed further when Cassian's hands stopped moving. He continued further, wanting his words to leave his mouth before he could bottle them up again. " I've never experienced the kind of love that you give me. I never got to love someone the way I do with you. And it's not enough, Cass. You deserve so much more and...I'm so unworthy of everything you give me. You shouldn't, Cass. I don't deserve it."
Azriel wasn't sure if Cassian was even breathing. After hearing complete silence from him, Azriel turned around, making sure to protect his wings from Cassian's arm and hesitantly looked up at the taller male. A million different emotions were shifting in Cassian's eyes and Azriel couldn't make out half of them. Azriel tentatively cupped his face with his hands and stared up into the hazel eyes that he had fallen in love with many years ago. Cassian's hands moved up to lightly grasp the hands on his face and leaned into the touch. " Az..." he murmured softly and Azriel could hear those indecipherable emotions in his voice. Azriel couldn't stop his own heart from beating much faster and he knew that Cassian could hear it.
Suddenly, their lips crashed together and he felt Cassian's arm sneaking around his waist and shoulders to pull him closer. Azriel's arms instantly went to wrap around his partner's neck and his lips responded to Cassian's with ease. They pulled back with panting breaths and Azriel could feel their hearts racing in unison.
" I love you," Cassian murmured as he leaned to touch his forehead with his own. " Do you love me?" Cassian asked, a spark of passion in his eyes that Azriel couldn't really make out.
" Of course I do," Azriel replied, confused with Cassian's point.
" Then it's enough. The way you love me is enough. It's more than enough, Az," he said, noses almost touching. Cassian's hand found it's way to his hair and Azriel leaned back into the touch but still looked up at him. " You're worthy of everything you get. My love. Our family's love. This life that we have. All of it." Azriel let a shuddering sigh escape him and tightened his hold on Cassian. " Why didn't you tell me earlier, Az?" He asked and Azriel could hear the hurt in his voice even though Cassian tried to hide it.
Both men knew that Azriel had these kind of thoughts but this was the first time Azriel had admitted them out loud. He took another deep breath and he felt Cassian's fingers brush through his hair in a calming and steady rhythm. " I didn't want you to leave," he said, his voice quiet and he faced downwards, not wanting to see Cassian's face. " I didn't want you see all of this and decide that I wasn't what you were looking for," he said, using his shadows to gesture at himself.
Cassian froze once again and Azriel looked up, only to meet the crushing of their lips. He felt a thousand emotions flow between them and when they pulled back, they could see their emotions in the flecks of their eyes. " I want to be with you," Cassian growled, biting Azriel's neck softly. Their eyes met once again and the spark in Cassian's eyes had grown into a wildfire. " I want to be here in your life. For. Every. Single. Day. I want to be with you when your shadows are inside your mind. I want to be with you when they aren't. I will always want to be with you. No matter what," Cassian paused and grasped Azriel's face softly to tilt it up further, " I'm not leaving you, Az. Not if I have anything to do with it. I want to live for you, Az. I want to go through each day see you with me. I want you by my side." He stroked his thumb along Azriel's jaw, waiting for his response.
Azriel slowly felt his fears dissipating and he tugged on Cassian to lay his head on his chest. He let the thrumming of their hearts wash over him and he released a breath he didn't know he'd been holding.
" I mean all of it, you know," Cassian murmured after a long silence.
" I know," Azriel said, his words almost a whisper. He pulled back to look up at Cassian and into his eyes. " But...just saying it this time doesn't mean I won't have these doubts again. I'm not going to magically become as confident as you are, Cass." A hand moved to travel up and down his spine and Azriel felt the scrape of teeth on the crook of his neck.
" I know, Az. I know," Cassian repeated several times, " I'm not expecting you to. But I will remind you, Az. Every day if I have to...Is that-is that okay?" He asked softly with concern lacing his voice. Azriel sighed with relief and nodded, relaxing further into Cassian's touch. " Please wake me up next time?" Azriel hesitated before nodding this time.
" I can't promise you that, Cass."
" Okay," he murmured gently into Azriel's ear, tugging on it slightly with his teeth. " It's okay."
And Azriel knew that. He knew it was okay. He felt calm in this moment with Cassian. He knew that another day would come and he wouldn't feel as assured as he did right now. But he knew Cassian would be there. He would always be there to help Azriel. With his words, his touch, his soul. It would all be there.
And Azriel knew that. He knew it was okay. That they were okay. Right in this moment, he felt safe in Cassian’s arms and he felt like this bond between them was never going to break. He knew another day would come and he wouldn’t feel like he did right now. But he knew Cassian would be there. He would always be there to help Azriel. With his words, his touch, his soul. It would all be there. To bring him back from his past and away from his fears.
“I don’t think I’m a pet person,” Cassian says thoughtfully, taking a long sip of his wine. “I mean don’t get me wrong, dogs and cats are cute I just don’t know which one I’d get.” You try to keep your mouth shut tight, squeezing your lips together.
Elain has been working hard to help convince Az and Cass to get a pet. After confiding in the middle Archeron sister about how bored you get when your mates are away and that a pet would make you less lonely she became your biggest supporter. Elain was going to help you get a cat by any means necessary.
You’ve been dropping hints like crazy, always stopping to pet a dog when walking in the city or feeding stray cats. You even made sure you walked past the pet store, making a point to look in the window telling your mates how cute all the little animals are.
You even asked for one like Cassian and Azriel told you to do when you want something. You put on your best pout and would say, “please daddy? I really want one.”
But nothing!
They have no other reaction besides agreeing with you and kissing your forehead.
“A pet would be nice one day.” Azriel finally adds to this Cassian-centric conversation. You perk up, looking at your mate with a hopeful smile. “Really?”
“Yeah,” Azriel nods. “Probably not for a while though. Maybe a few more months or after Solstice.” He takes a sip of wine giving you a small smile. You return his smile, plotting in your mind for when your mates go away. What you’re hearing is they want a pet, they just don’t know when. That’s ok, you have it all figured out for once.
Two weeks later you’re kissing them goodbye for their monthly trip to Illyria. Your plan is running on repeat in your head.
On the first day you visit the pet shop and ask the owner questions about everything you need to do for a kitten. She showed you the new litter that was born a few weeks ago.
As soon as your eyes spotted the tiny black kitty with bright yellow eyes you fell in love. He looked up at you like he knew you were thinking of him. He sits right in the middle of the play pen, tilting his tiny head curiously at you.
“What about that one?” You ask, pointing to your new best friend. “Aww,” the store owner coos lovingly. “He is adorable isn’t he? Unfortunately dear, he is spoken for and will be picked up in about a week.”
Your heart sank all the way to the bottom of your stomach. Maybe this is the Mother’s way of telling you your mates are right. That a pet just isn’t for you guys right now.
You bite down on your bottom lip to keep it from quivering, blinking away tears quickly forming in your eyes. “That’s really great,” you force out with an unconvincing smile.
She puts a comforting hand on your shoulder. “How about you visit them before they all go home dear?” You nod vigorously at her. If you can’t have the little guy you’d take whatever you can get.
You didn’t keep it a secret from Cass and Az when they came home. You would come home with cat hair all over your clothes and a big smile on your face. As you recount your day Cassian and Azriel would look at each other, smiling as if they were bursting to tell you the world's biggest secret.
They could hold their tongues for a few more days though.
Your mates can’t wait to see the look on your face when they bring home the kitten you’ve been dreaming about. On the day your little friend was due to go home you couldn’t bring yourself to say goodbye. You stayed home trying to take your mind off of the sweet kitten.
Tapping your chin you ponder which book you want to reread as Cassian wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you flush to his chest. You lean into his muscular frame still staring at the bookcase. “You’ve been quiet today, what’s on your mind sweet pea?” He presses a kiss to your temple to coax an answer from you.
“I’m just sad about the kittens. I really wanted one. I was going to name him something cute like Smudge,” you let out a heavy sigh tilting your head up to look at Cassian with the saddest eyes he’s ever seen.
It takes all of his self restraint to not blurt out the surprise. Azriel should be home soon with the kitten, he just needs to hold out a little while longer.
“I’m sorry baby. Maybe next time, yeah?” You just shrug. Cassian hugs you tighter, pressing more kisses against your cheek until he earns a small giggle from you. “Why don’t you pick out a book and I’ll read to you. We can cuddle on the couch, how does that sound?”
You agree and quickly pick your favorite romance book that Cassian has read to you before.
Cassian pulls you onto his lap flipping the book open to the first page. He only gets through the first two chapters before the front door opens and Azriel pokes his head into the living room. His shadows swirl excitedly through your hair and around your wrists as soon as they see you.
You giggle at the cool wisps kissing your skin. “What are you two up to?” Az asks, not moving so his body is still hidden by the wall.
“Just reading daddy.” Azriel hums, raising a mischievous brow at you. “Wanna take a break? We have something to show you.”
You tilt your head in confusion looking between your mates. Slipping off Cassian’s lap you pad across the room to Azriel, his arms held behind his back.
“What are you—” you try to peek around him but Az moves tutting at you.
“You don’t want to ruin the surprise do you princess?” Az teases, smirking at you. Cassian stands next to you bouncing on his toes from excitement.
The anticipation is killing you. What could your mates have gotten you?
“We know you’ve been wanting one for a long time. And you’ve been so patient and sweet with how busy Cass and I have been, so we thought it was time.” Az is grinning at this point and Cassian can once again barely contain his excitement.
“Oohhh show me show me!” Cassian and Az look excitedly at each other. “Here you go princess, we hope you love it.”
Azriel moves his arms presenting you with the little black kitten from the pet shop. You squeal, taking the kitten from Azriel. “OH MY GOODNESS OH MY GOODNESS! A KITTEN!” You hug the little guy to your chest, pressing kisses all over his little face as he meows, rubbing his face against your cheek. “Thank you! You’re the best mates EVER!” You give them each a one-armed hug.
Spinning out of their grasp you hold the kitten up cooing at him.
“What are you going to name him sweet pea? Still think Smudge is a good one?”
You swear the kitten crinkles his nose at the name making you agree with him. “Hhm,” you think hard. “What about Pepper,” you say to the kitten more than your mates. He moves to rub his face against your forehead and you take it as a sign. “Pepper it is.”

Make You Say It
Cazriel x reader
note: mmmhhhh I may have one more 👀 and your request will be going into my drafts babes bc I'm a sucker for soft Cassian
warning: ddlg relationship
Cass and Az are the perfect boyfriends, they’re attentive, they love you a whole lot, they treat you right, and are great listeners
After months of being together you’ve learned a lot and like all relationships there are still some bumps in the road with there being 3 of you
Cassian and Azriel just know what you need without you saying anything, or before you know you need something which has always impressed you
Since they take such good care of you, you feel like you can fully be yourself with them and not have to worry about the world or your responsibilities at home with them
You’ve been afraid to call them daddy even though the nickname has been on the tip of your tongue! but every single time you chicken out
Azriel notices you trying to call him daddy first (sometimes Cass is clueless and thinks you’re just shy)
Azriel tries to draw it out of you doing things for you that would make you give him the nickname he so desperately wants to hear fall from your lips
He’s super soft with you, calls you a good girl and princess, turns up the praise, holds you close and gets super handsy with you, and gives you extra kisses
Az eventually clues Cassian in on what he’s doing and he teases you worse than Azriel
Those damn biceps almost get when Cass wraps his arms around you, pressing kisses to the top of your head, his big strong hands roaming your body, almost touching you where you crave him, making the nickname almost slip out
You don’t think anything of it. Why would you? Your mates just love to touch you
Your mates have been your comfort people since day one so you think they’re just being as clingy as you are
The day they finally break you Azriel and Cass are so happy with themselves
You had spent all day cuddled up with Cassian while he worked
Cass had been babying you all day, playing with your hair while sitting in his lap and pressing teasing kisses to your neck until your stomach growled “snack time?” He asked. “Yes please,” you smile up at him
He carries you to the kitchen placing you to sit in the counter so he can get your snacks together
You spot Azriel strutting into the kitchen and give him a sleepy smile, holding your arms open for him to come stand in front of you
“Hi Princess,” Azriel hugs you tight to his chest, pressing kisses to the top of your head. “Hi Azzy.” He felt your indecisiveness in the greeting and let out a deep sigh that you mistake for contentment
Leaning back he cups your face in his large scarred hands and can’t help but give you a bright smile. Azriel can’t help smiling whenever he sees you. You’re just a beacon of light and happiness that he never thought he would be able to have. “How’s my baby doing today?” He asks softly. “Good. Just hungry but Cass is getting me something.” “Frozen grapes?” Az guesses and you nod
Out of the corner of his eye Az sees you fidgeting with a bandage on your finger. “What’s happened here angel?” He coos, gently pulling your hand up to inspect it. “I cut myself on one of the decorative daggers Cass has.” You wince a little at the memory of the sting. Azriel pouts at your finger murmuring something about needing a new bandage. Returning with fresh ones Azriel gently rewraps your finger, pressing a small kiss to it. “Thank you…” you trail off shyly, a blush dusting your cheeks, your eyes darting between Azriel and the ground
Az cups your face again, making it so you look at him. “Hey, what’s wrong angel?” Your mouth opens and closes, finding it hard to get the words out. “It’s ok, y/n.” The encouragement in Azriel’s voice makes something click in your mind. He knows. And now you don’t have to hold back because you can see in his eyes that he wants it too
All the times he and Cass have taken care of you run through your mind, all the delicate and soft moments. Even right now with Cassian making you a snack and Az changing your bandage. You could cry from happiness at the realization
Smiling softly up at Azriel you feel the bond flutter happily in your chest. “Thank you daddy.” Azriel’s smile grew to borderline feral before his lips attached to yours, kissing you deeply. Breaking apart he looks at you with pride
“Of course Princess. I’m always gunna take care of you. We both will,” Azriel kisses you again this time a little softer but with the same passion
Cassian finally comes to stand next to Azriel, smirking at you. “Finally! We’ve been waiting so long,” his rough knuckles caress your cheek. You give them doe eyes and the cutest pout you can muster. “Really?” “Absolutely sweet pea,” Cassian presses a kiss to your forehead and hands you your bowl of grapes
