Shazam!: My review
Shazam! The latest, and freshest DC movie yet. It is so different from previous films and brings something new to the table. It's as campy superhero fun as the character himself.
Shazam! explores the relationship of family and what it really means. A message that we can all look at and respect, of how we can form our own family even if there are no blood ties. And that it's not always those who you are related to who have your best interest at heart.
Having this as a core theme of the film really connected everything within it, including the villain Dr Sivana (Mark Strong), being a dark mirror to our protagonist Billy Batson. Both compliment each other well, each character being the inverse of what the other is. They are both connected to the idea of family and have been formed by there own familial ties.
Even though the film explores serious themes, it still manages to be light hearted fun, especially when Billy interacts with his new foster family. Having some of the best moments in the film with these characters.
I won't lie, some of the jokes were ruined as I'd seen a lot of them in the trailers, but there are plenty of things we didn't see as well.
I'm loving the new direction DC are going, with Aquaman and now Shazam! Having fun with the properties they own and just embrqcing the comic books as they are. Please go see Shazam! and see what you think.
You'll love it, especially the end 😉🤐
