listen, i love the trope of 'character a would do anything for character b but let them die' just as much as anyone, but. what if it's the opposite? what if character a loves (in whatever form that love may take) character b so much they'd do anything for them? so much so that they'd hand B the cocked gun, yet look away when B, as they said they would, shoots themself with it. so much so that A'd do anything in the name of B's happiness, more then they'd do for B's safety - bc what's safety worth when B would absolutely hate them for it?? it's not like A'll be around for long enough to regret it afterward, anyways.

loving someone so much it twists itself into some kind of hate (because what is hate, if not love's twin? what is hate, if not just yet another form of obsession?); loving someone so much you'd hand them the gun, no matter how much it made your hands shake.

5 hours after defeating the devil

I always thought that defeating the devil, then running back home, then having a party all in one day must have been so exhausting.

After all is over, the kids go to bed and fall asleep inmediately, tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that they will have nightmares about the devil, the debtors, dying over and over again.

They're forever changed, a bit more brittle, a bit more scared. Heroes, but at the cost of their childhood.

But tonight they'll have a dreamless sleep, tonight they're together, safe and sound. Tonight everything will be okay.

anyways if you're wondering why this is tagged as "casino cups" too it's because of the injuries, cuphead broke his arm and mugman his handle :]

i like to think they shared the bed the first night after the fight because 1-None of them had the energy to climb to the top bunk 2-they were scared of being alone
