drink !!
drabble meme: onedrink: write our characters drinking together ( zombie apocalypse au, because why not )
{ warning: death, alcohol, blood }
it’s like a ghost town. there’s something almost cathartic in the way you can’t tell what era it is anymore. it could be the 18th century; the air is still and dead and nothing sparkles with a modern touch.
it’s not just the air. most things are dead.
kana is not.
kana sits on a stool at the bar, dusty bottle of tequila and chipped shot glass on the counter in front of her. it’s entirely abandoned and worn down, creaking and ancient-- an old saloon that could be straight out of an old western movie, miraculously surviving the bedlam of the world. all around her are signs of struggle long passed: broken chairs, glass from bottles and windows littering the floor, dried blood, from the living or the undead.
when she arrived, she didn’t pay it any mind. she’s seen far worse by now-- done far worse to survive.
she found what she came here for. she pours herself another shot and knocks it back with ease.
she hears the floorboards creak and looks over her shoulder with little urgency, hand already on the machete at her hip, then raises an eyebrow when she spots someone actually alive. unexpected.
“are you going to drink all of that?” he asks.
“was planning on it.”
“...can you at least pour me a shot too, then?”
he places another shot glass on the counter next to hers. she eyes it suspiciously, then pours more tequila, first in his glass, then in her own.
“cheers,” he says sardonically, without even making an effort to clink their glasses together before he drinks the entire thing.
“you’re going to owe me half a bottle of tequila,” kana grumbles.
“oh, yeah, i’ll just order you one off of amazon. are you kidding? it’s the end of the fucking world.”
“uh huh. tequila is a national treasure now. this could be the last bottle of tequila on earth. i also could’ve run a machete through your skull as soon as you walked in here, so some gratitude might be nice.”
he doesn’t thank her. instead, he just pours the remainder of the alcohol into her glass, and dramatically gestures toward her, like some kind of gentleman.
kana gets the idea.
